I was in the garage last night, doing some close examination on my Uly, getting ready to tear apart the smashed front end and put it back together, and to prep it for Buelltoberfest. As I was looking at it, I took a glance over at my CR, and started thinking. The CR has nice shiny new forks, trees, rims, tires, front fairing, and headlight; all the parts needed to put my Uly back together with....

I just can't bring myself to molest my new baby....

Perhaps I will just rent a geezer glide for that weekend instead; it would be cheaper and won't drive me insane. : )

Why not just ride the CR?

Froggy, whats the petrol consumption like on the CR compared to the Ulysses? I had a ride on the 1125r & CR and really like the CR now too

I know they've got the instant and average MPG on the clock but i wasn't on them long enough to get a good reading

1st - don't do it, but go ahead if you must.

2nd - I was in my local HD/Buell shop this past Sat.
There were 10 new CRs lined up on the showroom floor for $8995 each.
Is that a screamin price?

I drug the running boards on a Heritage Softtail turning around in the parking lot (that was a big surprise).

Froggy, a Geezer Glide would never survive YOU. : D

Mileage will vary, I haven't really hypermiled it yet, but you can see here when I get a little happy with the throttle. I should be able to break 50mpg if I actually tried for it. 60mpg might be obtainable if I had an R, as it has taller gearing and the more aerodynamic fairing, but in the mean time I will stick with my 65mpg Uly and 85mpg Blast. : )

Hughlysses, I might just take the CR. Only downsides I see are the lack of luggage would make it a bit cramped, and I would square off a brand new Corsa 3.

I could take the Blast, possibly get 100mpg on the Blue ridge, and not have to worry about ruining expensive tires.

I wonder if I can get the Uly tail on my Blast...

Tginnh, that dealer is dropping the Buell line, get them while you can! Hell I might pick one up as a parts bike.

My father has a 09 Screaming Eagle Geezerglide, I might be able to con him out of it for the weekend, but I doubt he would like the modifications to the paint after I am done hauling it through the forest service roads around Suches : )

Of course, rather than putting CR parts on the Uly, you could always take this opportunity to graft the Uly tail onto the CR...

Whatever you decide, you better get cracking. Buelltoberfest will be here before you know it.

the cr gets high 20's to low 30's. its about 12-15mpg less then my Uly gets. But its also a different type of riding.

if i worked it out right its almost $7 US for a gallon of petrol over here (UK)

Froggy, that geezer glide will do just fine if you take the dragon first and grind a 1/2" of the foot boards off! Just stop when the frame hits, that makes one crap their pants!

David the US uses a smaller gallon than the UK, many people do not correctly factor it in and underestimate fuel economy numbers. 45mpg US = 54mpg imperial, or 5.22L/100km

My 85mpg US Blast gets 102mpg imperial or 2.76L/100km. : )

Froggy - SERIOUS?
I don't keep tabs on my local dealer, but do you know something I don't?
Are they really dropping Buell?

I am talking about Laconia, not sure if you would define them "local" as I don't know where in NH you are, but its not that big of a state : )

That's what I've heard too. I bought my Uly from the previous owners when it was called Meredith HD. Anyway, I went in there last fall after the new owners took over and noticed the Buell swag section was gone. I asked then if they were going to continue carrying Buell. I got some long winded answer that tried to say "yes" but certainly sounded like "no" to me. It's too bad. The previous owners certainly seemed Buell-friendly.

I was in the North Conway, NH shop last month - they had one white XB12R and that was it - no shirts either. There's still a Buell sign out there, but it looks to me like they're out of the Buell biz. Too bad...my (summer) neighbor in Maine is the sales manager there. Back when I was starting to ride, in my Yamaha V-Star days, he used to dramatically shake his head and tell me "We gotta' get you on something American! You need a Low Rider!" I would have loved to have bought my next Buell from him.

That North Conway shop is the smallest motorcycle dealer I've ever been to. Only room for about 10-12 bikes on the floor.
