I am getting ready to do the hook up for the Autocom. It is my intention to put everything in a tankbag and run power to it. What/where is the best place or way to get power to the front? I currently tapped into the back of the aux outlet for the power to my Zumo. Is that a good place to draw from or should I run a line from the battery along the frame? |

The front outlet is fused and switched. It should be fine. |

I'd just run a fused line right from the battery. It's a straight shot up the left side under the airbox cover. That way you don't have to worry about the wires flexing as you turn the handlebars. |

I use the front outlet also, the only issue I've had is that occasionally (rarely) the plug will vibrate loose and I have to push it back in. It's happened about 3 times in 15,000 miles... |

I use the front plug as well. The only problem I have had is I routed the wire over the handlebar cross bar and it rubbed the paint off. Oops. |

I ran hot leads to the HIDs under the inner airbox cover and ran the remaining wires to the igniters in the front fairing bundled with the wiring harness. I linked the heated grips to the accessory plug. |

I have my Autocomm and CB in a small tank bag. I run a line from a fused block that is power relayed through the rear cigar lighter socket. I run the line up under the seat and have a marine plug that connects to the tank bag thus easy to take off bike, waterproof while riding in rain etc. I also used marine instrument power wire (West Marine) which is insulated with foil and also a filter from "Electic Connections", and also chokes for RF (from radio shack) that takes out all the extranious sound. I use Eutomic ear buds w/ the Autocomm helmet adaptor cord and get supper sound from the XM, Radar detector, voice on the CB, passenger to driver, and the ear buds cut way down on long day fatique particularly if stuck doing hwy driving. Happy with system and it has taken several years to get it to work well, and now everything listed above is bike powered. |

Pso, thanks for the info. I ended up using the front aux plug and ran the line over the top of the triple tree with a weatherproof cap. I am now waiting on the powerlet parts for the bag. I too will be using the earbuds. |

Myzen, which adapter cord are you going to use for the ear buds? The cord w/the box on it that you plug the buds into or the one tht connects to the helmet w/a dongle? |
