Today, on a ride, 08 XT, 24,000kilometers..beautiful summer day, not real hot. Get to about fifty miles an hour, going through the gears, Motor Cut Out, just one blip, like a hic-up. Was fine, nothing more, an hour or so later, totally different elevation, cut out twice..like to hic-ups in a row. Continued riding for another two hours, nothing. Did not do it again.
Wonder if this is somehow connected to about a week ago, suddenly all my dash stopped working..speedo, tac, dead, all the other stuff, odometer, clock, that all stopped as well. Just kept going, again in the middle of nowhere. Has not done that one again. Chalked it up to some weird Bermuda Triangle thing, even though a long way from there.
Froggy, what says you..you were right the last time I had a issue.
Thanks in advance. I am almost due for a service, so am hoping to hang on til then.

I had similar symptoms. It ended up being a loose battery ground connection.

Do the 08's have the B.A.S issues we had with our 06/07 models?that might be another thing to look at?

Not really the same symptoms as the Bank Angle Sensor. '08's were mounted in the new position.

Sounds more like, if the battery cables are not loose, a ground on the steering head behind the headlights, or broken power lead wires in the steering head wire bundle.

Al Lighton's rule one of electrical problems states:

All problems are ground related; until proven otherwise.

+1 on battery connections. Check them first, then the other under seat ground terminations.

Al Lighton is the owner of American Sport Bike.

Its not the BAS. The BAS would totally cut the engine till you cycle kill switch off and back on.

When I had that symptom, it was a broken connector inside the ECM (specifically the gray ignition lead). I could reproduce the problem by pushing up and down on the rear ECM connector. Replacing the ECM fixed it. It could also be a ground issue as mentioned above or a bad relay (which I've also had).

When mine does that, it seems to be fuel related. I make note of the last place I bought gas, and never buy from them again. That is the only thing I can trace it to. I can ride for thousands of miles and never have an issue, then put strange gas in, and I have issues for the next couple hundred miles. Nothing huge, just a really inconvenient stutter a few times on that tank.

Ok people, thanks for all this. It is getting worse, but the closest bike shop is two hours away, one that will look at buell that is. Will take it in the morning to Victoria on Vancouver Island..have it booked for friday morning. Time for the Twenty four thousand kilometer service anyway..it is about a four hour ride, and a two hour ferry ride..hope it holds up, and will post here when I get the findings if I ever do..hope it does not strand me.

On the old tubers , that was caused sometimes by a crimped vent hose to the fuel tank . I had a 00M2 that did that , and the tank vent hose was pinched . Fixed that , never happened again .
