Tell me more! Is this more like the X with the longer travel suspension, wider turning radius etc., or, is it more like the XT?

What about the special cop wiring? Does that make it easier to tie in farkles?

What else?

It's an X, with XT windscreen and Outdoorsman bags.

The wiring only adds small-gauge (they're for LED's, little to no current draw) wires:
2 pair to the L fork
2 pair to the R fork
1 pair to each handguard
2 pair to the top box
Pushbutton on the R switch housing

All the wiring sources from the underseat area, the box mounts where the underseat bag would go.

Engine, trans, suspension - factory stock UlyX stuff.

Why so expensive?

My dealer has an 09 XP and he has the MSRP listed at $13,495?

Seems it should be priced about the same as the the XT.

Does it have the response kit (lights/siren)?

No response kit, but, that would be friggin cool. I'm already thinking about a "Blues Mobile" theme.

So, the wiring for lights is there. I can plug n play, but, that's about it with electrics. Is this wiring thick enough gauge for a set of piaa's or motolights? Do they switch on/off with key? Could I use these wires to trigger a relay to hook in a centech panel?

I assume I could just snip the wires going to the top box, if I wanted to? Is that wire heavy enough that I could wire in a powerlet for charging stuff? Phone etc?

Sorry for the lame questions!

The response kit would be more likely to get you in trouble . . . however, if you want to practice I have the Motorola Syntor 900 Siren I took out of my last pickup. It's the 100W model that the NYFD and FBI use and has the complete range of welp-wail-fog horn and the rat-tat-tat machine gun sounds as well as a 100W PA system . . . you could put it on your bike.

: )

Without the response kit, the wires are bare at both ends. Underseat end is a large connector for the response "brain" that runs lighting and siren; lighthead ends are just 2 pin connectors. Without a brain in there, there's no switching at all. They're just abandoned copper at that point.

I wouldn't run PIAAs or anything high-draw on the wires. Best bet, you could use them as "pull-strings" - attach a proper gauge wire to the end, and pull it through the routing to where you need it. As for charging...the brain pulls power from the vehicle power outlet circuit anyway, and there's a standard 12v outlet under the seat, and another in the dash. Standard equipment on all Uly's.

Court - nice pics. Wonder who's got such a nice showroom? lol....

No response kit on it. just the extra wires wound and wire-tied in place. For all intents and purposes it looks exactly like an X with the Outdoorman cases.

Any idea what the function of the push button on the right grip is for?? It it to key a radio?

Doesn't seem to be much to accommodate comm gear.

"It's got a cop motor, a [1203 cubic centimeter] plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new [BluesmoBuell] or what?"

"Fix the cigarette lighter."

Which one?

The green button is the lighting button. Push once, rear lights turn on. Push a second time, full perimeter lighting. Push a third time, lights out.

The brain is smart, and runs both lights and siren. If you have the lights off, the horn button activates the air horn thru the siren. If the response lighting is on, and you push the horn button, the siren comes on. Push again, it changes tone. Doubletap the horn to silence the siren. 2 button control for response gear.

No comm on the bike. Most motormen these days wear body-portable 800mHz comm anyway, at least in our market.

Oh, this bike will be traveling from Nashville to Rhode Island. I'll need a good dealer for the first service along that route. I'll more than likely be doing deals gap, blue ridge parkway, and, lots of other twisty bits in between. Gotta make sure the bike is broken in correctly always moving at the legal speed limit, of course

Ideas on a good dealer for the service?

If anyone is interested Lowcountry Harley/Buell in Charleston, SC has an '09 XP - Black. It doesn't have the lights and siren mounted on it and I don't know if they come with it or not.

I'm going to take it for a test ride tomorrow, weather permitting.
