Hello! I'm due to sand the deposits off of my front rotor and can't seem to locate the preferred method. What should I use to get the job done properly? My Uly has also had these spots or deposits on the main, dark grey frame and I can't seem to find the right cleaning product to remove them. What have you folks found to be effective for cleaning the frame? Thanks, Scott | ||

Thanks Dan. Now, anyone else have a home remedy for unsightly frame blemishes? I haven't washed my bike since I bought it in March and I could use some pointers. Thanks, Scott | ||

I use Scothbrite and a strong mixture of Simple Green. Tape off the lugs on the wheels where the brake disc attaches so you don't rub the paint off..... | ||

Just curious, which side of the frame are these spots on? The outside facing surfaces of the dark grey frame is covered in spots or deposits of some kind. You can see the dark spots in this picture (I outlined the affected area):  | ||

BTW - yes my bike is dirty, but the other spots come off with soap and water  | ||

The reason I asked was I thought it might be brake fluid from the front master cylinder. Thats on the wrong side though. Try something strong like Simple Green like Rwven suggested. If that doesn't work I don't know what will.  | ||

FWIW, I just used a plastic scrubby pad and paper towels, and lots of brake cleaner on my 12R disc. Worked well, and the pulse was gone. | ||

for the frame i use VT40 i know it's oil but I wipe it off and it leaves a nice clean look, and it also helps protect the plastics, for the grim left on the front rim from the rotor i use a kitchen degreaser it works like magic and is not agresive against the paint, about brake pulsing it may be due to the springs blocked as it's a floating rotor to check this is with the palm holding with the fingers the rim, try to pull in the disc if it moves its fine, try it all way round. At least is my ideas and thoughts and work for me. | ||

You could try buffing compound for auto paint on the frame,rub it on and buff it off by hand. The only reason I wash my bike is to clean the brakes,I use soap and water and scrub the rim and rotor. | ||

Scott- I have similar issues with the swingarm on my Uly. I noticed them a few weeks after the dealer had the bike to replace the rear rocker gasket. They probably came from whatever the dealer used to wash the bike with. I plan on trying rubbing compound; the spots definitely won't wash off. |
