I'm getting ready to order the 2" risers from Twisted Throttle for my '09 Uly XT. I know I read somewhere here if I would need to install longer cables.....can't find the thread! And I know if I ask the dealer it would be "Yes! Of course!". Thanks!!!!! | ||

Hey Kimberley, I have the 2" Rox risers on my '08 uly and I've had a couple of posts on my installation that describes my routing. I can shoot a pic or two and post it for you. I'm using a home made cable guide with the Rox risers that really save the day. Let me know if those are the ones you are getting and I may have an extra laying around. I just installed a pair of Rox Risers last night. All I had to do, as far as the cables are concerned, was remove the guide for the front brake cable. located Behind the headlights. I removed the flyscreen to get at it. Not sure if you have to but it seemed the easiest option. | ||

Kevinaye...have you tried manipulating your throttle with the handlebars at full left and right lock? Most of us had to reroute the throttle cables to prevent the throttle from binding while at full lock (can't recall whether it was full left or full right). Tipsy | ||

I did the full reroute with my 2008 triple swap. I used 1/2" spacers to move the front fairing out and routed the cables inside under the ULYSSES logo on the dash. Tons of free play, no binding. I also ditched the wire cover on the left side and just have the wiring floating in a big zip tie. No crushing issue between the fork body and frame. Not the best shot but  The issue comes in when you go full right and your throttle increases (if memory serves me) The only problem that comes from spacing the fairing away from the triples is your locking pin is now to short by however much you spaced it. You can machine a new 10mm pin easily if you have a lathe. My issue is I had a pin made for the 2008 triples (which space the pin out 1/2") but didn't take into account the 1/2" for the spacers, so now I will have to make a new new pin. Will update the board when it is done. Don't hold your breath. | ||

Hey Tipsy, I checked my cables. You are correct the throttle does bind very slightly if the handlebars are cranked all the way to the right and the throttle is fully open. I never notice this when I first checked it. However the revs don"t increase when I turn the bars to the right. Cheers. | ||

Precision Engineering makes 1" risers. No cable or control binding issues. Tall enough for my 5'8" frame. | ||

I wonder why (Rox) risers are the first/only choice for addressing handlebar reach/comfort. Am I missing something Re just replacing the bars with better Height / Pull-Back? I believe the stock dimensions are Diameter Height Width Pullback Center Clamp Area " 7/8" , 6-1/2" , 30" , 9" , 5" , 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" Seems like easy to find 8-1/2 h , 10" Pull back, for short $ Thoughts? |
