Thinking ahead, can the '09 Uly Power Port on the console handle a Gerbings vest and glove?

Thx, Steve

Yep, with qualifiers. You have 405 watts of alternator output to play with. If you are running 2 driving lights and both beams of the headlight plus the fuel pump fan ignition etc. there will be little to no power left to heat your Gerbings. The computer will shut the Aux. Power Port off to conserve power and you will begin to get cold.

The Power Port will handle the load of the vest and gloves.

It does work.

Your Gerbings should come with a pigtail to wire directly into the battery. Since it's so hard to get to the battery on a Uly (lol) I have mine hardwired, and peeking out the left front corner of the seat (where the wires are on your left hip when wearing the gear).

I also have an LED voltmeter, so I can manually monitor system voltage and turn things off if I need to.

Hey thanks. Yeah, I have other "horses in the barn" and was wondering if I need to spring for another battery lead or save a few pennies and just plug into the port.

While it appears the port will work it's probably better to just get a battery lead and have the connection right there instead of draped across the tank. Thx again.

Yea do the battery connector, its more reliable. The 12V car plug tends to vibrate out and rust up in the rain.

Make sure you get the polarity correct when you plug it in. If you get them wired wrong it will make you cold. Just kidding, I have the vest, arm chaps, and leg chaps, they work great.

Do you already have a lighter plug? From what I've seen, the lighter plugs are $25 or so...and the pigtails for the battery are about $6.
