Time for a new front rotor as the recent adventure ride has toasted the original on the '06 ULY. Looking for opinions on replacing with the OEM part or one of the aftermarket wave-style?

Ok you got 3 choices, the OEM, the Wave, or the new Buell Race rotor.

OEM - Cheap, works.

Wave - Expensive, works, looks hot.

Buell Race - Expensive, looks like it works, looks like the stock rotor went to McDonald's. : )

So there you have it. I love the wave rotor, its just damn sexy on my Hero Blue rims, I don't care about anything else.

I haven't seen any reports of a wave rotor warping. Did I miss one?

Several reports of repeated problems for some folks with the stock rotor.

I wonder if the race rotor is less likely to warp then that standard OEM? I am thinking it is likely to be the same UNLESS the better temp control helps. Also what is the weight comparison between the wave and race?

The race rotor is 6mm thick, compared to the 5mm OEM rotor.

There's also the new Buell 5mm "finned" rotor kit, H1201C.02A8. It's a CFD-designed perimeter-finned design that uses notches on the edge of the rotor to create cooling turbulence (see the parts catalog available for download on buell.com). $235 compared to the 6mm race rotor at $149.95 (H0201.06AH). The finned rotor kit includes mounting hardware though.

Thinking the the new Fin may be worth a go but seems a coin toss, the Wave is a looker no doubt. The hardware kit is about $60 so complete price seems close from Fin to Race, but a Wave with hdwe would be more like $300

I have waves on my street bolts as I don't think they would handle the heat of a racetrack ride. I have stock ones on my racebikes and on my Uly. They all work fine where they are and have been off many times and I have never bought any new hardware. That's crazy-talk, I don't even use locktite and have never had a problem.
