Was 3rd in line at a left-turn lane this morning. We get the green arrow and.. nothing. Finally the first driver in a pickup goes and I end up going on mostly red, and this is a light that usually lets 5 to 8 cars at a time go as it's the highway entrance. Once on the highway I notice the same pickup going slower than traffic but at least was in the right-hand lane. I go by and take a look thinking yaking on the cell phone, but no! This lady was curling her hair with one of those butane-powered curling irons!

I passed a young lady that was reading a book while on the highway. She had the book draped over the steering wheel. I got out of her range as quickly as I could.

Butane-powered curling iron...... hummmmm, I wonder if that could be MacGyvered into a tire warmer? Possibilities...

Hmmm,

In 30+ years of commuting I have seen:

- the hair thing
- the map thing
- the book reading thing
- the teeth cleaning thing
- the looking under the passenger seat thing

...but the best (or worst) thing was a couple having the sex thing at 80 mph(but Bill said that wasn't sex - so now I am confused).

Where are the cops when you need them?

And if a cop had been there, Ron would get the ticket, not the woman with the curling iron !

I saw a guy texting while riding his GSXR yesterday. Fortunately there wasn't much traffic and he wasn't going too fast, but still... that's darned dumb.

I figured someone would argue with me as well so I snapped a photo on the FDR.

I didn't believe I was seeing this happen while I was getting gas. There was a guy at the pump in front of me and he had a tool on his key chain he was using to unscrew the bolts on the front panel of the pump, opening the panel and attempting to, I think, trigger the pump to pump gas.

He was obviously trying to do this and not be noticed, but I saw him and said "What are you doing?" At which time he didn't say anything and looked kinda sheepish but continued messing with the panel while his buddies acted as lookouts.

So I went inside and told the cashier that someone on pump 6 was opening the panel and they should investigate. Eventually a worker understood what I was saying and went out to look. This was when I figured I better get out of there in case the crooks were to follow me for snitching.

Maybe I'm out of line for posting this but it's darn low-life jerk-offs like this who may probably just be out for fun to see what they can get away with, but hey they're acting like criminals none the less. If it were a house instead of a pump, that would be breaking and entering.

Sounds like an average Tuesday in DC traffic.

And you can't reason with these people. I was making the argument during a conversation with my cousin (one of these people) that people can't text and drive at the same time. She said she had no problem doing it. Also told me that she was reading a book on the way to the house that day. She was adamant that she was driving fine and paying attention.... yet she ran out of gas on the way to the house.

"Where are the cops when you need them?"

A multi year freeway expansion project was recently completed around here. Now the freeway is a near perfect surface 6-8 lanes wide. While this has aided congestion it has done little for speeding and general unconscious driving. Every day I see something that amazes me as someone attempts to empty his gene pool on the freeway.

I've been noticing a lone constable's car parked along side the HOV lane, usually the only law enforcement presence I see for days, guarding us from people trying to cheat us all by driving with a blowup doll or even worse alone in the HOV lanes!

It kind of makes you wonder?

Cheers, Will
