I had the great priviledge of meeting Dave Barr this past weekend at our benefit for the Honor Run, here in the Houston area. Dave seems to have a real intrest in the Uly and I got a picture of him sitting on mine! I tried to get him to ride it, but he declined. On the ride Saturday, I showed him an XT a the hosting dealer, Independence HD. I will continue working on him

Thanks for posting this. I had never heard of Dave Barr before. Wow! What an inspiration!

And now I can stop wondering if one can tour on a Sportster.

You certainly can tour on a Sportster. I went from Houston, tx to the Dalton Hwy and up to the Artic Circle on one. Look up a guy by the name Mike LeDuc. I bought my Uly because I owned and rode a Sportster a lot of miles. Dave Barr is a good man and I recommend his books. If you ever think you can't do something let Dave be your inspiration.
