Has anyone had start switch problems. I have had one already replaced under warranty. Last night it acted up again. I had to hit it several times to get the starter to engage. My bike is a 08 XB12XT.

Are you in neutral? Ive seen a bad clutch switch cause intermittent issues. Could also be a bad neutral sensor. These two safeties will not allow you to start the bike if they think you are in gear with clutch released.

I wonder if the grounds are O.K.. if you have a bad ground, or a low battery, the amperage will be high, and possibly take the switch out. Do you put many miles on? or does the bike sit for a while before it's started again? check the voltage at the battery terminals, and also while you try to start it.

Not a bad starter switch, but I just replaced my ignition switch.

I also disassembled my left-side switchgear to bridge the low and high beam circuits with a small jumper (low beam "always-on" mod"). Previously, I had achieved the "always-on" mod by triggering the low beam HID with the Euro light lead, but I just switched those leads (low and Euro) back to stock orientation.

new to the board. I just had the same problem. Hit the start switch and nothing... checked the relay, then check both grounds (neutral and clutch) both good. I pulled the RH controls apart to check the start switch to see what I could see. It appeared that the spring was some how dislodged. removed and then replaced the same spring and put everything back together. So far everything is working as it should.

My 08 must not have a clutch switch because it starts right up without pulling in the clutch. Normally I do pull in the clutch but it does work without it.

The clutch switch only kills it if you are IN GEAR. In neutral you can start without the clutch. : )
