Does anyone have one that they are not using?

I was hoping that someone has one that was bent from a crash or whatever. I just need the part that the topcase latches on to. I will be fab'n the bracket to fit the bike I am putting it on.

Basically I am putting a Uly topcase on her Blast. I have the topcase already and need a way to attach it to the bike.

Thanks!!

Jim

I don't have one, but I was thinking it would be nice to have one and to see how much they want for one also. Id like one to attach to my Ully. I had the racks and bags but sold them, now wishing I still had the tail rack and bag maybe.

Mounted a GIVI 460 top case right to the triple tail on the ULY. Works great. Simple and very effective.

The problem is that I have nothing to mount it to now. I'm putting it on the Blast and I would like the option of using the lock on the bottom to attach the case to the bracket if possible.

Firstbatch,
Looks like it's trying to rotate over the top to dump the load. That beaver tail isn't at its strongest at that attitude is it?

Eg, thats funny...... it does kinda look like that. Actually in that picture the bike is up on a rear stand and the rear wheel is off the ground.

I know everyone says the the tail is not strong...thats all a bunch of bull. This set up works fantastic and is more than adequate for normal topcase loads. I will post a better picture later.

Damnut,
I have an extra one. I ordered it, thinking it was the whole rear rack, from my local USUALLY good dealer who would not let me return it when we discovered it was just the bracket.

PM me if this is what you need:

If that is the part that the topcase latches onto? If yes then, I am interested.

I don't know what the part that I am looking for looks like as I haven't really looked at anyone's Uly that closely. You guys would know more than I would.

Can anyone tell me?

You also need 92050-05Y upper bracket. This is only the lower bracket.

I have the upper bracket and the case. I bought them off of Ebay and when I went to install it the lower bracket was missing. I have been wondering if I could just buy the lower bracket or if I was going to have to buy the whole thing. Now I know and will get the part so I can install my trunk!

About time they made that lower bracket available.

Damnut,
The part I have is not the part the case latches onto, as Mithrageist notes. The part to which the topcases latches is called the "Mounting bracket" on the Buell Instruction Sheet that came with topcase kit (which I got from a third party).

Those instructions don't list a part number for either bracket and I had a heck of a time (mistakenly) getting the lower bracket from my dealer. The instruction sheet claims that the part is "not sold" in the column where other part numbers are listed.

Assuming that Damnut can't use the part I have, if your dealer won't get it for you Trey, I'd be happy to sell you mine for what I paid for it (plus shipping).

So it looks like I don't need that part, Thanks Atoms!!

Treys looks like you can have it.

More searching I guess.

Froggy,
Thanks for posting that PDF! The instructions that I have are the 6/24/2005 revision. In that rev, the "cross bar mount" is called "Mounting Bracket, lower" in the diagram, but called the cross bar mount in the instructions. It was pretty confusing. I'm glad Buell caught the error and revised the book.

Atoms, at the time there was no part number for those brackets, Buell didn't want people buying the racks and topcase without the sides for safety reasons. Glad they finally offer it in case mine needs replacement.

Jim,
Check this out...

http://www.eurotechmotorsports.com/forms/Closeouts.cfm?do=detail&q_part=650%2E448%2001%2001&q_StartRow=21

I think the topcase will fit on this.
Hepco-Becker has several for different
bikes with a flat plate on the bottom.
You could check the places that sell HB
for the cheapest one! Craig

Just buy a Givi Monolock top case and mount it to the tail and screw all that bracket stuff. It is simple.

I was still under the impression that the parts were still restricted. What part numbers do I need to get the entire rack to mount a topcase? I already have sidecases and the topcase.

Thanks

Those parts were restricted as of a month or two ago when I tried to get them. At least at my dealer they were. All I wanted was a rear rack. I was able to order what is now called a cross brace (92308-05Y), but that is only one of two parts I wanted.
I was subsequently told that I could not get that rack part - now called the Mounting Bracket, but to make matters worse I was told that I could not return the Useless to Me cross brace that I'd just gotten for $71.50!

My story has a happy ending. I got an entire Top Case kit from a badwebber who sold his Uly and got a GS8. That left me with an extra cross brace which I stuck in the mail today for Treysmagna.

But jeeze Buell should get its story straight on the availability of these parts. I can understand why they would not want people installing the rear rack without the side racks, but to tell a customer who already HAS side racks that his money is not wanted and he can't get the parts: that was just insanely frustrating!
