I remember reading somewhere, that there is a new wheel bearing press for the larger bearings.

Yes. There is a new press. My dealer got one as part of the new tools required for the 2010's.

Also, my question is a double post of sorts and Ratbuell answered it on the other thread. I asked the question here and the thread didn't show up on the main board, so I posted the question again, assuming no one would see it in the archives. Guess I didn't wait long enough.

Sorry,

Steve

I just bought a new 2010 complete wheel assembly (w/bearings, axle, seals, spacer) still in the box from Cpilot (thanks, dude), thinking it was a new 2008 wheel assembly. Although I think the 2010 wheel assy is awesome and all, I don't think I need it as the bearing loads on my bike are fairly low vs. the stock setup. For the sake of consistency, I'd like to trade this new 2010 wheel assembly for a nice older wheel from a pre-2010 bike. Then both of my rear wheels will have interchangeable bearings/axle. If there is someone from the Milwaukee, WI area that would like to trade their pre-2010 wheel plus a little cash (thinkin' $75-$100 depending on the condition of your wheel/bearings) for a new heavy duty wheel assembly, please PM me. Will sure beat paying $350 or so from a dealer and having your current wheel sitting in a corner.... would like to trade in person, I don't want to ship this thing. If I can't find someone who wants to trade, I guess I'll just use it.

BTW- 1313 indicates his 2008 Uly is getting a 2010 wheel upgrade, evidently under warranty: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=32777&post=1566388#POST1566388

When my bearing went out the dealer called the factory and they said no to replacing the 08 with the 010 under warranty. So I ordered the 010. When the parts came in they replaced my bad wheel with the 010. I sold Prowler my supposedly 08 wheel kit, and it turned out to be a 010 (I didn't look in the box). So it does look like the factory is replacing warranty bearings with 010 wheel.

Maybe, mine will go out again before the warranty is up.I doubt it, I had Hal's put them in, so, they will probably outlast my fear. I wanted to trade TJ my rear wheel, but, his is magnesium and mine is black. It is a pretty color. But, would not be much of a savings if I had to buy a front rim to match.

Thank you, Court. That was very helpful. Until I read Ourdee's post, the last one, I didn't realize I probably can't get a 2010 wheel in black. That's something else to deal with! lol Ah, such is life. Ths.

It's REAL easy to make it black and at least it's not $1,815 like the "black wheels" option on the 2010 Porsche. Ouch.

I'm selling my 2008 wheel on e-bay now. Thought about painting it black but I'm okay with the color of the new one.
