I was just at my dealer to have the fork oil changed and asked about the reflash. I got the same $149 price quoted. I told them the bikes running fine, so forget about it. Then I got the bill for the fork oil change. 3 hours labor and parts and tax = $272. They won't be seeing me anytime soon. |

$272 is cheap for a fork oil change. Whats the labor rate? My local dealers are about $95 an hour, so plus parts and tax would be $350-375 |

Sorry guys forgot to tell you all about that front ECM nut. Lift the bike by the exhaust and it will relax the shock just enough to be able to stuff your hand in between the trunk pan and shock. I was able to hold the nut in place while tightening the bolt. Looked like a circus act I am sure, but I got it. (Message edited by ulyscol on August 06, 2009) |

I put my comfort kit on today haven't road it yet.I think its an ugly air scoop The nut on front bolt of the ECM I used an elect. glue gun to hold the nut in place. If its your first time takeing the ECM batt. wireing plastic pan out it will take 2 to 3 hrs. to install. At least for me it did. |

Anyone know what size that front ecm nut is? I was able to get the threads started but it did not go into the hole/recess ok and just spins (I think it might have augured the hole/recess), now I cant get it off, figure I will try what another poster said about lifting the bike off the ground to get more room for access. I hope I did not ruin the base pan. Seems the only difference I can tell between the old bolt and the new one is, the new one has locktight already on it and the old one did not. Seems like a mute point when there is a nylock on the other end. This seems stupid to me, there are nutsirts on the shock reserv and adjuster mounts, but not for the ecm? Especially in a location where access is minimal and blind. Seems like the ecm mounting configuration was an afterthought. |

That poor hotter than ever (already toooo hot) shock! I'm thinking that too although it can be nothing but good for the ECM, battery and the wiring bundle under there. That and the fact that apparently you won't be able to easily R&R the O2 Sensor or fan anymore, think I'll wait for the positive reviews to come in... |

That's why you put a shock on with a remote reservoir. Like this:

It might just be me, but the bike does seem to run better. The past couple of days have been cooler here so my fan hasn't been running except at shutdown for a bit. Tomorrow I will be getting the ECM update and we will see how it feels then. |

It took me over 2.5 hours to get from work to my Riders Edge class last night due to a 4 car crash and burn. (less than 30 miles) My right leg didn't feel the burn like it has in the past. The frame didn't get as hot either..... I may need to take that thing off this winter! lol |

I got mine in. Stunning improvement. Right side a little hot, but the stones feel cooler. Who needs a front ECM nut and bolt when you can have duct tape, the handy mans friend! |

"I may need to take that thing off this winter! lol" So next year will everyone be complaining about how the seat and frame are not warm enough? |

That and how they got flat rear tires in the middle of nowhere because they forgot to ever check them once they put on the 2010 wheels with the uber-bearing setups... |

Well, my kit is in. My wife went by the dealer to pick it up; the parts guy said mine was the first they had gotten in and he and the Buell tech just HAD to open it up and look at it. They were evidently very impressed with the fan duct. Looks like I'll be wrenching most of tomorrow: comfort kit install, muffler re-install (after re-painting), and 20k maintenance. Hopefully I can get the ECM update in a week or two. |

Got the call from Gateway that the kit is on and the ECM flash has been done as well. It's a nice hot sunny weekend here in Saint Louis so will be a good test of how everything works. Will report back with the details! |

wow. I did this mod about 3 years ago and it helped a lot all on it's own. But the RSS would be nice. Oh wait, I had one of those too, until I drank the Kool-Aid and sold it. Maybe I'll purchase the kit and leave my own fan shroud on.

Jury is still out . . . I can already tell it's "BETTER". but I only rode home. I'll be putting a thousand miles on it next week so I should get some sense. Don't get me wrong . . . . it ain't "cool" per se . . but I can already tell it's better. CAVEAT: The first box we opened today lacked instructions. I can .pdf them to you if you need. The second box lacked the inner scoop half. HINT: Before I rode to my dealer's I'd have them pop the box open and confirm everything is there. Buell notified, fix in. But for now not a bad idea to check. Thanks to the staff at Liberty for their help today! Court |

Further Hint: Wearing proper safety gear still = no engine heat issues. |

But for now not a bad idea to check. Now you tell me! Got home with my new kit (which a couple of guys at the dealership had already checked out)- no inner scoop! Unless the guys at the dealership accidentally left the inner scoop out when they repackaged it, I guess I'll have to wait on them to get a replacement.

Ordered mine today but my service department doesn't know how much time is allowed to install it. Their estimate was an hour to an hour and a half. When I asked about the "book rate" they told me that the book rate only applies to HD and not Buell. This doesn't sound accurate or reasonable. Has anyone else ever encountered this type of answer to labor rate on Buell vs. HD? Does anyone know how much time Buell rates the "kit" installation? |

Court and Hugh - our first kit was also missing the inner RSS. How'd you guys take care of it - order a new kit? Order just the inner piece? I'm not a parts guy...but in the interest of getting the stuff in for a customer as quickly as possible, what's the best way? Mine, however, is here in the garage, waiting for me to get home earlier than 10pm, so I can mess with it Joe H. did the PDI on our first '10 Uly, an XT. Said fueling was much more stable at low speeds...but an interesting note (in 86 degree weather) he said the fan kicked on *more* at parking lot speeds than his personal 12S. Guess the vehicle speed factor compensates for low ambient airspeed by running the fan...more? He also had good things to say about the Angel tires, very neutral transitions and a good overall feel. |

Court - better how? The bike is running better overall? Rocketsprink - nice mod. You were ahead of your time. I remember all those threads about the RSS. Bienhoabob - $149 seems steep to do a flash. Is this the price to expect? That's something like 2 hrs of shop time. That seems a bit much. Guess I'll have to check with my shop. Cyclescoot - thanks for the photos. It looks like quite the process. I'm going to pass for now. What about doing the flash without installing the comfort kit? Any issues with doing so? |

I've got Hugh's information on the way but if you have received a RIDER COMFORT KIT with a piece missing send me an E-MAIL with RIDER COMFORT PARTS in the subject. Include:
- Your name
- Dealer name
- Dealer contact
- WHAT PART IS MISSING
Easy fix. |

You guys have to pay for to have a flash update? My shop does it for free, like it is warranty work. |
