I have a 2006 XB12X Ulysses and yes my rear bearings finally went at 26,500 miles so I rode it to the dealer today and had them replaced. They were the red ones and the seals were damaged that allowed moisture to penetrate them. I could see daylight through the sides. While they had it there I had them to replace the rear brake pads also! Now my beloved Uly is all better! |

I got a new set of black seal bearings in today (ordered with my Rider Comfort Kit). I replaced my notchy original orange seal bearings at ~8,000 miles with a set of Koyos (which coincidentally have black seals). AFAIK they're fine at ~11,000 miles, but I wanted a set of spares in case I need them. |

Rear hub bearings @ 19,000, and again at 25,000. My local shop went to a bearing shop for an "upgraded" bearing for our next attempt. The shop is great, the rear hub bearings are not ready for prime time. |

From the shop - Water in the hubshell, again. The drive-side bearing was split in two - along the entire diameter, like a sliced bagel. Apparently, the '10 rear hub is vented like the current and previous front hubs, so no condensation will build up internally and if water gets in it will get right back out. I now have bearings from a local bearing supplier in my rear hub. All this work was done for free, and they didn't charge me for the new non-HD bearings either. Riverfront HD in Lawrence, KS is the business! |

Hey Kansas, Riverfront HD in Lawrence, KS is the business! I've kinda suspected that all along but have to travel 157 miles to use them. But...now that you have so strongly praised them I'm going to have them do my "kit" install once I have it. Alefs "worked" on my bike today to remedy a cold engine problem but didn't actually do anything except try to charge me $45 for diagnostics. Riverside will get my business from now on whenever possible. Thanks. Bob |
