Mine is waiting at the dealership to be picked up. Looks like I have a project to work on tonight. |

My 'comfort kit' arrived in the mail today.. ohhra. I placed the RSS and heat shield in about 15 mins and helps very nice with radient heat just in northern michigan the RSS this summer (very cool summer) I can't say how great the RSS is or not ... but looks cool!! The duct I can not say if or why I put it in or not my odie-like blanket seem just fine ... anyone looking for a fan duct? LOL!!! Thanks Chas |

I put the entire kit in last night, sorry no pics. I can say that it does its job. After about a twenty mile ride today in 80 degree temps under my seat was warm but not egg cookin' hot like usual. The right side frame rail stays at a tolerable temperature as well. As far as installation every thing went in pretty easy with the exception of the fan duct. It wasn't so much of a problem removing everything to get it under the seat as it was with the poor fit. Seems to me like the tubes and wires going to the fuel pump completely interfere with the fit. I tried several different approaches but in the end I still have a gap on that side. I guess I can live with a gap. All in all I say if you have heat issues with your Uly buy the kit. |

To start out my installation adventure, I had to ditch the box at Hal's since it was too big for my bags. =) I got everything home and thought that it wouldn't be too bad, but... I had to abort my installation tonight because of the lack of tools. I don't have anything to crack the bolts that hold the battery pan in. So I'll be heading over to Steve Mackey's on Thursday night to get this done. As he put it, I have enough tools to build the Ulybolt, I think I should have enough to tear yours apart. =) I took photos tonight and I'll take more on Thursday. Hey Crusty, did you get your posters? One other thing, the instructions as far as I got, kinda are sucky. They should have had a normal person go through them first. Just my opinion. Oh yeah those torx bolts were on good. I used a T-handle torx tool and had plenty of leverage to bust 'em free. |

Did any of you guys who installed the kit have the new ECM reflash done? How is that effecting things? |

I'm interested to hear about the "scoop only" . I wonder if that will be subject to the same shortcomings associated with the old RSS. |

I have not had the flash done yet. My dealer said to bring the bike up once I installed the kit and they would plug in. I figured I would ride a bit and evaluate the kit only. I will probably get the flash in the next few weeks. |

I'm having the install and the flash done on Friday followed by riding all weekend. So I should have a good grasp of what's up by Sunday |

Ulyscol- any noticeable difference in fan operation yet? It'll be interesting to get your feedback before and after ECM update. |

From day one my fan has very rarely kicked on while riding, 2008 model. It usually just turns on after shutdown and runs for about 5 minutes. So as far as the fan is concerned nothing has changed. |

I ordered just the duct pieces.I like the way the bike fuels now and do not want to change the air flow over the head temperature sensor. I just want to route the heat from under the seat, though the heat is nice to have in the winter. |

Can anyone post the total cost to get the comfort kit installed by a dealer? It sounds like it should be an hour or two of labor? I am kind of torn, I ride in MN, and think the heat feels great in October and April, but not so much in the summer. The fan on my 06 has never kicked on while riding, and it runs for about 3 minutes after a ride. I guess my question #2 is the kit only for comfort, or does the extra air aid the performance of the engine? New to the Buell world, I appreciate any insight. |

Installed mine tonight in 2 hours 10 min. The parts... Inner right side.... I don't like these little boogers... the look like the fly screen screws... Remove the trunk pan... so easy to type... such a pain to do!! Take off them side case mounts while your at it.... MAHAHAHAH MAHAHAHA HAHA almost done... or so I thought... only this little bastard remains.. this is the bolt from the front of the ecm mount. It should be on the end of the new alan screw provided... that didn't happen. Need to look into this.... but not tonight. |

I would love to see the back of the header tube shield. Is it insulated or anything? Is it made out of steel or alloy of some sort? |

Mine was on the porch when I got home from beer tasting. Tomorrow is homebrew tasting. Friday is trip to Madison for the Great Taste of the Midwest on Saturday. 110 breweries, 5 hours to sample. Sunday is driving home while detoxing and rehydrating. Maybe I'll put it on next week! I'll take photo's of installation and post. |

Wolfridge thank you, your pic #2 of the inner baffle of the scoop answered my question of how the factory RSS would functionally differ from my Crins RSS. It appears that it doesn't differ in function. It appears that the Buell Comfort RSS is two piece construction for reason of manufacture and/or assembly. It appears that the inner baffle performs the same function as the inner wall of my one piece Crins, to direct cooler front intake air past the front head/header into the V. Maybe the new Fan Shroud allows a controlled negative pressure zone below that enables the new RSS and the old LSS to function harmoniously , along with the ECM update to reprogram the fan run times appropriately. I don't know or worry about it, I know my RSS has worked for three years and I'm very happy to see Buell apply a like Factory solution. I don't like the complication of the Shroud install though, seems extreme for a plastic baffle. And in Wolf's 5th pic you can still see the rear head, that's where a lot of heat comes from. Go Buell go, and thanks for the new 3 bearing rear axle! |

I just helped Squidbuzz install his tonight. Tools Needed: 1.) 3/8 Socket & ratchet 2.) T27 Torx bit(on a ratchet work fabulous) 3.) 1/8" Allen Wrench There are a few things that don't quite work well... Before re-assembling the seat pan to the tail section, I would SUPERGLUE that nut needed for the front ECM hold-down screw to the plastic seat pan. When you get it all together, you'll never get the nut on there. I would enlarge the holes in the inner right side scoop to 3/16" It makes assembly MUCH MUCH easier. The c/l distance, at least on Squidbuzz's bike was greater than the hole C/L of the inner scoop. We took LOTS of pictures. I'm currently uploading them to my Flickr account. This is really a two person job. Especially when it comes to re-assembly. |
