+1 on the riding gear... here's another way I recently found, riding around in 102F heat ensures that ALL of you is roasting...so no worries on the right leg.

Thanks for the wheel info. A bit of discussion going on regarding demand forecast.

That's inaccurate. There are 138 left in stock after initial shipments.

Well, the comment was in jest; I just figured there'd be a run on them once the word gets out. I'm still glad I ordered one today!

How many folks (take a guess for me_ do you think will upgrade to the 2010 rear wheel?

That's a really good question. I'd bet the guys seriously contemplating Iron Butt Rallys or trips to Alaska or who just plan on owning their Uly until the frame breaks in half would be the most likely customers. I'm kind of thinking I'd rather hold off and put that money towards a trade-up in a year or two.

Maybe ~20 people once they know for a fact what the new upgrade entails?

I will upgrade to the 2010 rear wheel; only if/(when) the original fails.

My rear rim is dented on the lip, so I am considering upgrading.

Well, since I drove the 110 miles to my "local" dealer to order an engine temperature sensor and the updated exhaust actuator, I decided I might as well put my name on the list for the comfort package.

Tried to order some Buell stickers too (I wanted to upsize the small one I have on the back of the rarely driven van), but after 10 minutes looking on the computer, I told the parts guy "never mind".

Worry not . . . you are the 63rd Rider Comfort Kit order. Buell anticipated and planned for significant demand (perhaps spurred by the photos of my cooked leg in a report) for the Rider Comfort Kit.

The stickers will wander into the system in the next couple weeks and will be plentiful.

Hahahahaha . . . well if being excited about the new years models makes me sound like a Buell rep . . . then I likely started in 1989 when we were all (all 6 of us) were dying to see of the rumor of a "flip up" seat was true on the rumored RS-1200.

The stickers is an easy guess . . . . if you had 150,000 owners around the world clamoring for something . . . . what would you do?

: )

Court - since you have ears at your disposal...my thought on stickers is, get a helmet version done. Say...50% scale of the current. Print it black ink on silver reflective. Brand pride *plus* visibility.

Just sayin'... : )

No way . . . just working at home on a writing assignment today. I'm retired . . . I swear I am. (Although I have fielded 3 e-mails from owners, 2 calls from dealers, 1 from Buell and 1 from HD today) . . . I swear . . . I am REALLY retiring!

In fact . . in my next life I may go back to test riding or perhaps wandering the country BREAKING Buells.

Don't tempt me . . . . I know where you live.

Court

P.S. - I sent your idea to the "King of All Marketing". . . and MAN OH MAN have I got an amazing and uniquely Buell story from today . . . remind me to tell you sometime.

got mine today, put the scoop and heat shield on, still need to do the cowl. The cowl kind of sounds like a bit more involved. I'll try to got it on this weekend. In between rides.

Fung- what's involved in installing the cowl? Court said something about removing ECM and battery in another thread in the XB forum.

Iment to say "shroud" in sted of "cowl". sorrey if thats was confusing. remove ecm, battery pan, battery, main harness, trunk pan, fuse block. Not that big of a deal, i'm just in chill mode for the nite. the other stuff was just a couple of bolts.

It's an easy mental image, no pics required.

Take off your seat.

Remove everything you can see, except the titanium-color tailsection rails, and the shock itself (the reservoir has to be unbolted - but not unhooked - for the install). If you can't look down thru the rails and see the tire/hugger...you still have stuff to take out.

Put in the duct.

Put it all back.

My guess is, it'll be the better part of a sixpack to put it all in - inner and outer RSS, heatshield, and duct. I'll know in about a week, I suppose : )

Won't directing all the hot air on the shock cause problems?

My bet is that we'll be debating that for the next year. The reality is that the entire system has been in the works for over a year (including the help of at least two Badwebbers) and is really well thought out.

I'll be getting some good information soon and can't wait to see how it works in the "real people, real roads" environment.
