Has any one removed the chin faring and replaced with the Touratech oil cooler guard and front engine protector ? Seems like that would allow alot more air to flow on to hot motorcycle components. Just wonderin? ...particularly in this uncharacteristic triple digit heat wave we're having in the NW. Hell - the infamous Fan is running... and it's been shut down in the garage for 3 days!!

Actually, the chin fairing is designed to help cool the engine. Buell has a patent on the Blasts muffler with the same curve to deflect air up.

I have run the bike with and without the chin fairing, and never noticed a real difference in temps from my unscientific observations.

Some good info here

Anyway feel free to try it. It might help, but my theory is the Touratech stuff would make things worse.

Once I got past all the 'wherein's" - makes sense. Thanks for the link & time saving advice. I don't mind working on my bikes but gee... it's still trout / salmon season here, so plenty of other diversions. If it provided any appreciable heat benefits someone would have chimed in by now. I believe your thesis is valid. Thanks again, j
