After finally getting a weekend to hit the road after getting my kick stand fixed, my wife and I decided to take the Uly (08) camping up to Rocky Mountain National Park.

The local dealer, when fixing my kick stand, downloaded the latest ECM update. Wow, did that update make some major changes. Very smooth running, no stumble when cold, fan comes on now when running at slower speeds where it never did before, but it shuts down much sooner. It sure would be nice to know what has changed when they do an update. It looks like my fuel economy has decreased. We had averaged 48.4 on my 1,800 Colorado Vacation last month and only 46.8 for this weekend.

The scenery was great, the bike performed excellent even at 12,000 feet. Did some dirt road (trail) and really enjoyed the canyons. We were heading back home via Breckenridge. I came to a stop sign in Breckenridge and heard a "click" "click" "click". Didn't know if my kick stand had come down and was hitting the pavement. In a few more feet the rear end started to wobble, and I knew what it must be. We limped into a gas station and sure enough the wheel bearing was kaput. So $268 dollars later the tow truck brought the Uly and riders home. I am waiting for the dealer to open tomorrow.

The other bad thing that happened was my right Palmer Cruiser peg departed the pattern somewhere between Kremmling and Silverthorne.

So it is back to the dealer.... 18,949 miles on the 08 when the original wheel bearing took me down.

cpilot - did you have the KBC or NTNs on your 08' ? My 08' had the red (NTN) bearings - preemtively changed them out @ 12Kmi with the black (KBC). Make sure the replacements are NOT another set of red ones. Sorry for your troubles - glad no real tragedy occurred in process.

Yep, at 11.5K my red seal bearings were well on their way out. I changed them with a set of SKF's. Time will tell how those work out.

Yes I had the red seal bearings in my 08. I'll make sure the dealer gets the latest.

My rotor is scalloped one from American Sport Bike.

Do we know if we have any reports of the latest bearings going out?
