Just wondering what kind of windshields are being used and what kind of luck you are having. I am 6'6" and would like a bit more protection. Thanks for any info!

I first installed the Palmer brackets (http://palmerproducts.auto.officelive.com/buellxb1 2x.aspx) to extend the windshield. This helped a lot for me, but wasn't enough for my wife riding on the back.

I tried adding a Laminar Lip extension, but that didn't really help.

I then took off the stock windshield + Palmer and went with a Parabellum 28" windshield. My wife was happy, but I was still getting a lot of wind noise. Turns out it was from air coming up from UNDER the handlebars.

I added some bags to block that (http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/472833.html?1248097336) and I was happy, until..

I added some Rox Risers to the handlebars. I am now MUCH more comfortable riding, but I now sit about 2-3 inches "taller" and I'm getting a bit of turbulence off of top of the Parabellum.

This weekend I hope to try out the stock windshield + Palmer bracket again and see what difference the risers make with that config.

I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

There are a bunch of choices..

Parabellum
http://www.parabellum.com/

Cal Sci
http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/

Cee Bailys
http://www.ceebaileys.com/cycle/index.html

MadStad and Palmer both offer brackt and wind shield options.

I use the MadStad (Palmer also has very good reviews) bracket with a 16" Parabellum in the colder weather and I am curently running the stock windshield with the mad stad for the hot weather. I've done a lot of experimenting... its a very personal thing to get the wind like you want it.

I have used a CEE Baiily.. but once I got a Parabellum the quality difference if much better on the Parabellum. Can't comment on the Cal Sci as I have not put my hands on one.

A couple years back Charly @Parabellum used my bike to fit his shields, so I was able to test a bunch of the Parabellums (16" to 28") before I got the MadStad fitted. With the stock setup the Larger Parabellums worked well in the cold weather. In general, with his shields I the air is generally clean.. sometimes I would get some 'noise' if he wind hit the bottom of my helmet, but not really to much buffeting etc.

Now in the cold with the adjustabilitiy of the MAdStad and the 16" I don't need the extra height.

For the Record, I'm 6'2"... so not quite a tall as you are. I also have a tank bag which helps block some of the wind (there is a recent thread about this).

Again, the bottom line is..what works for one may not work so well with another.

I would also suggest you call and talk to the guys at the various companies with the offerings above.

I did a pretty long review thread (which I Can't find the link).. but it had a few pics of the Parabellum's with measurements etc.. the pics are here.

+1 on the Parabellum WITH Palmer brackets. I had more buffeting @ 22" much better cut down to 16". (Im only 5'8" so at 6'3" an 18 or 20" may be right for you) I also tried the ZG+4 - but the Para is about 4" wider and curved, so better flow for my setup. @ 16 or 20" it doesnt look or feel like a sail boat.

Here's something that I did that would work real well for someone under 6' tall with a low seat. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/212532.html?1204590058
