Took the Uly to Greatlakes H.D., for a warranty repair on the exhaust actuator. They gave me a New Ultra classic to ride while the bike was being fixed. They told me the throttle body was bad, and ordered a new one. I went to pick it up, and they showed me the old throttle body, and it was pretty f'd up. I got on the 08 XT, to ride it back home, and damn, It's a whole new bike. It really has lots of oomph now. The guys at Greatlakes H.D, have really done an awesome job. Thanks guys, and Thanks to all the people that service BUELL.

What was the issue with the throttle body?

Are you sure its not just cause you rode the Ultra around while yours was getting fixed?

Just had my 5000 mile service at dealer today. They tell me my exhaust actuator needs replacement (not in stock). Is this a high failure rate part? Didn't really notice any lack of power...maybe I'll be surprised when the new actuator is installed.

It looked to me like the butterfly shaft,(main shaft),was extremely tight. you could hold the throttle body and twist the cable support arm, but it was really tight. Almost like twisting a bottle top off a beer. It would turn about 10 degrees, easy, then get tight. The funny thing is, the throttle was never hard to twist.
Davidxt, it COULD be the difference between the bikes, but it will pull the wheel in three gears (again).I'm thinking about contacting BUELL customer service, and see if I could get a damaged throttle body, to do a little investigation myself. I was thinking, "I wonder if temperature difference between the cylinders is bending something, or maybe fuel additives are swelling O-rings, making it malfunction.Ideas?

That's very possible. I originally owned a XB12R and Ultra. The Ultra felt like such a tank after riding the Firebolt that I traded it for a Uly.
Been riding the Firebolt again while the Uly has been down with several problems. I SWEAR the uly feels like a tank on the first ride after riding the 12R for a while and it's WAY more responsive than the Ultra ever was!

I really wonder, what the 1125 feels like after riding the Uly?

+1 on A powergasim ; )

When I tested the CR it really made me lust for the Rotax mill in a bike configured like my XT.

A CR with normal handlebars?

>>I really wonder, what the 1125 feels like after riding the Uly?<

Small and potent. Most of the difference is over 90mph

After testing the Moto Morini Granpasso I reckon a detuned 1125 - say 125hp - in the X frame and suspenders would be the seller.

But give it wheels that fit adventure tyres.

Longer, taller, passenger accommodations, luggage, some wind protection....a sport tourer.

125 HP would be fine, nothing wrong with 146 though.
