My 2006 uly has about 18000 miles and is pretty much stock through-out. It seems the low speed drivability is getting worst. I know this is an issue in varying degrees but I would like some comments on the
description of mine. Below 35 mph I pretty much have to feather the clutch or put up with the jerky power delivery. I tend to leave things alone if they work, and I have none of the problems that pop up on this forum from time to time (bearings, bad grounds, fan croaking etc...) To my knowledge the TPS reset has never been done, again I don't want to make it worst. The bike has original plugs and filter, and above 3000 rpm runs like a champ. If I can fix or at least improve this last item, I will have the best bike I ever owned!

You've got 8000 miles too many on those plugs. The replacement interval is 10K. I'd start there, mine ran better with new plugs.

Plugs and magnecor spark plug wires, TPS reset. If that doesn't help enough, peek in the throttle body and see how bad the oil vents have dumped oil into your intake and valves.

Assuming I leave the ECM stock, would going with the 07 air filter cover and a K & N help as well. Good point on the plugs, I knew I was due, Rwven did you use stock plugs or something fancy?

What type of Magnecor wires did you use? Their catalog shows 3 types. 8mm, 7mm and 8.5mm

Thanks

TPS reset! Fix the obvious thing first... When the TPS needs to be adjusted, drivability IS the symptom.

+1 Growl, I had my 1000 service done at my selling dealer that knew nothing about Buells' contrary to what the sevice mngr. said. Drove miserable after that. took it back and they reset and a little better, got the software and cable and did my own TPS reset drove like it did before dealer screwed it up. Point being, when the TPS was off on my 06 bike just did not perform well, once set properly engine was great again.

The part number I've seen listed on this site says #2557. That was confirmed to be the correct number for my application ('07) when I ordered a new set today.
Not sure what diameter that is, but they said 2557 was correct.

BTW, do any Harley's require this TPS reset, I asked to have this done a my nearest Buell/Harley dealer and was met with a vacant stare. This dealer has since lost the Buell line, as have a few others in the area. A bit disconcerting. I am left with the biggest located in Montreal, that are also BMW dealers. Now they REALLY look down there noses at the Ulysses. My Uly was the Harley directors demo ride, so they seem ok with Buell. The nearest Buell in the USA seems to be White Mountain Buell in North Conway NH. Has anybody had any experience with these guys, it is quite a nice ride to get there and a spectacular area.

Hogs have a different FI system, and I do not know of any that require a TPS reset off the top of my head.

Flhman 73, thanks for the recommendation it is just as easy and as nice a ride to go to Maine. They must be good as it seems you are alot closer to the guys in Laconia or NC.
I will be giving them a call to set something up. If I can smooth out the low speed stuff I will be AHC!

Just a follow-up to my original post, had a new Sync put on the back and a new set of "black" bearings. They did the TPS reset and put in fresh plugs. This transformed the bike, much smoother throttle pick-up and less jerky and low speed. I ordered some Magnacors, but they didn't arrive in time. I will attempt to switch em out myself. The tech was able to remove the rear plug with out removing the base plate, pretty cool! My old plugs were worn and the front jug was a little lean but still good! So finally I was impressed with the Buell service, just less with the sales department. A salesman tried to convince me to go with one of the 09 floor models instead of a 2010 since ,as he explained, there are no differences. Oh well 1 out of 2. Thanks for all the good comments above, really improved the bike!
