Did the deed yesterday just because I had nothing better to do.
The bike had the hesitation when hot start and even cold at times. Looked into the - batt cable thing and sure enough there it was. Stacked on top of the batt tray tab,2 other ground wires ….nice setup there. !
I moved the - cable to a bolt a little further back without any problem cable reached fine. Installed a star washer, had to trim a baffle in the seat base but low and behold…problem solved and now my clock and trip meter stay set.
If you have not fixed this injustice to a ground setup….do it !

Ahhh... Thanks for the pix! I had just cleaned up my ground (actually it was already very clean) and of course it didn't make any difference. I'll give your solution a shot.

I did the exact same thing to mine but went back to the original because no matter where you attach that ground on the seat area frame it is all the same.
