Greeting to all from south Alabama,

I've been lurking on here since Dec '08 when I bought an '07 Uly. I'm amazed at the wealth of experience and knowledge of Buells, as well as everyone's willingness to help others, on this site.
For my 1st post I have to ask for advice/recommendations about an issue. Two days ago my bike was knocked over by a wind storm and now has very bent handlebars. Before this I'd wanted to add some height and pull-back to the stockers, but couldn't justify the purchase.
1. Does anyone know the cost of Buell replacement bars?(I'll call the dealer Mon.)
2.What bend of atv/dirtbike bars offer more height and/or pull-back?
3. What have some of you done? Pics?

Thanks,
Chad

1. Not sure but I am sure someone does.
2. No idea.
3. I put in the 1" risers from Precision Engineering. They are a sponsor on here and make excellent stuff with A+ customer service. When I installed them I also rotated the bar rearward just a little bit. Helped a bunch. I am way too far away from my bike to get you a pic but check out their site.

If you get strong aluminum bars and want similar dimensions to the stockers try ATV bend bars. They have more height and pullback than motorcross bars. While your at it get some real handguards and install heated grips. If you need more height install the Precision Engineering clamp. Good stuff. NUTS

Precision Engineering can also make you custom risers if you'd like.

I looked into this about a year ago,
because I wanted less pullback (sweep):

Width ----Height----Pull-back (sweep)

STOCK--Ulysses - 2007
762…………….165………………125
30"--------6.5"---------5”

Width ----Height----Pull-back (sweep)

Magura EX ………………………w/ ROX 2” = .3” inch higher rise
?…………..…….120……….…….87
?---------4.8”-------3.5”

Width ----Height----Pull-back (sweep)

Pro Taper Raptor
770---------143-------86.5
30.3”------- 5.6--- -----3.4

Width ----Height----Pull-back (sweep)

**Pro Taper ATV HIGH…………………………..w/ plus 1” PE riser = .8 inch higher rise
813…………….160………………100
32”-------6.3”-------3.9”

Width ----Height----Pull-back (sweep)

**Pro Taper ATV MID………………………………w/ plus 1”PE riser = .4 inch higher rise
813…………….150………………76
32"-------5.9”-------3”

Width ----Height----Pull-back (sweep)

Pro Taper ATV LOW………………………………w/ plus 2” ROX Buell riser = 1 inch higher rise
813…………….140………………84
32"------5.5”--------3.3”

I used 2" ROX risers http://www.roxspeedfx.com/ - love them. However, the throttle cable length limits how far you can pull back the bars. Depending on how much pull back you want, you may have to re-route the throttle cables to come out between the triple clamps (and behind the fork) on the right side.

I used a Marshall ATV bar, looks just like the original but black and the cross bar is narrower.

Thanks for the info guys.
NUTS, I already have the heated grips, but do want to upgrade the handguards.
I'll probably order the bars from Buell, but I'm looking at the risers from ROX and P.E. for better reach. I just took the switchgear off of the old bars with no problems...EXCEPT the L side where the heating element tube was glued to the bar! I eventually cut it off (not across the element, it still works)but don't yet know how I'll be able to put it back on, besides glue of course. Any suggestions?

Chad

Suggestions: with everything disassembled UPGRADE! New bars from Buell are expensive and inferior in strength. Spend less, get more. ATV Bars, Rox or PE clamp, new heated grip elements and hanguards are going to run about $200. But they will be more, super, bomber. I think you could cobble together some closeout/used items and do it for under $100.
I bought aluminum bars, alu/plastic handguards, heated grips all on closeout for less than 100 last year for my dualsport. It can be done quite easily. NUTS
