I thought I read on here a few months back that someone put 100 watt bulbs in their uly headlights and melted the housing. Is this true? I just put a set in and they seem pretty hot but the stock 55 watt bulbs seemed hot too. Just wondering if anyone has done this and had a problem.

Yep the higher wattage bulbs will produce more heat, and depending on many other factors will speed up the degradation of the reflectors. Stick to 55w or lower, including Silverstar bulbs or HID.

Note that it can still melt a little with 55w bulbs.

+1 Froggy. Thats why lots of us are running HIDS. More light, less heat.

I've been running 100w bulbs in my Uly since 2006 (both high and low beams) and haven't had a problem. Reflectors still look new.
