Hello, this is the first issue I've had with my 07 Uly. I am noticing some oil / grease on the left side of my bike just above the footpeg on the frame. It gets on my pants about mid calf. Can't see where its coming from, but the fan seems to be full of an oily residue. Anyone else have this problem ? Any easy fixes ? Oil level is fine and stable. Thanks for the help !

Sounds like a leaking rear rocker cover gasket. Remove the seat, get a flashlight, and look through the frame openings at the top of the rear cylinder head. If it's leaking, you'll find oil around the edge of the rocker cover at the rear. A little oil leak here makes a big mess so that's probably why you haven't seen a drop in oil level. I had this problem about 6 months ago on my 07 and I've seen several other posts here about it; fortunately, mine was fixed under warranty.

Unfortunately, it's not an easy fix. You have to rotate the engine to get access to the rear head. The gasket replacement itself isn't too bad. Most people use Cometik replacement gaskets.

I did as you described above, but did not see any leaks at the rocker cover. I will look again tonight. Thanks !

Gregg- another possibility is that one of the rocker breather hoses has pulled out of the bottom of the air box, or that the hose has pulled off its PCV valve. Either of those would be much easier to deal with. Remove the air box cover, inner air box cover, air filter, and air box base plate to check. That'll give you much better access to see the rear head as well.

I'm probably off the mark here but...... Sometimes I have fuel from the fuel over flow hose (on the left side) get mixed with road grime and it looks and feels much like grease.

But then the only wash my Uly gets is the rain.

A common issue to look for is the clutch cable leaking tranny oil from a poor crimped on end where it enters the engine case. Dealer will replace the cable if you are under warranty.

Think I found the problem. When I changed spark plugs a few months ago I lifted the air box base plate to get at the rear plug. It appears that I pulled up the PCV and never popped it back down into place. There was a trail of grime coming from this area and leading down onto the fan. Hopefully that's all it was.I appreciate all the suggestions !

Good catch, glad it was a simple fix and not something more drastic.
