With 1100 miles, I got a screw lodged in my back tire. As I was sliming it, I discovered a hole in my final drive belt. Into the shop we go. New tire....$200. Belt.....under warranty. Now I get to wait for the pulley which was damaged by the rock......god knows when that will arrive. Sigh. | ||

On the day I drove my Ulysses home from the dealership I picked up something in my rear tire (can't even remember what). But it was completely flat. I plugged it, rode that tire until it was bald. Never had another worry. YMMV of course. | ||

I must have read at least 5 threads about riding plugged tires on here and ADV Rider before deciding to test my emergency plug kit. I took a spike in my rear Diablo Strada with 3000 miles on it. Of course the tire was in great shape and the hole was just a bit off center. So I figured I would plug it if only to gain some confidence in using the plug kit for trips. I rode that tire for a good 200+ miles with the plug and it worked great. As everyone says, they would never do this with a front tire, or with a sidewall puncture. I even didn't want to trust it when my buddies would want to push the bikes into triple digits. I would back off knowing that I was riding a plugged tire. That being said, there are plenty of folks that trust it. I pulled the tire off recently and put it on Ebay (disclosing the plug of course with pics too) I got a very fair price from someone that probably wanted to try out the Strada without purchasing a new one. YMMV of course. | ||

The people spreading the "don't plug a tire on a motorcycle" myth are the same people who are selling motorcycle tires. Kinda like a tobacco exec telling you it is totally safe to smoke or a sunscreen person saying how bad the sun is. Plug it and forgetabotit a bike tire is no more prone to plug failure than the police vehicles we work on every day. | ||

hi guys, i picked up 2 punctures within 1 week on my new rear Conti Road Attack tyre. Not happy. the first one was a 5mm nail which must have just pinched the membran as it was only very slowly leaking - we put a patch on this one from the inside.. The second one i got yesterday whilst riding down to the Channel! bike felt wired coming home and i measured only 8.5 PSI in the rear.... had this one plugged... no crossing my fingers that it holds...if i will get a complete new set as the front has step-marks in it which i think are the cause from some front end wobble at around 50mph... anyway, hope you get your Uly sorted again... thx Lars | ||

Got the bike back today, but didn't ride too much (95+ outside). Was hoping against hope my heat barriers would arrive by now.........but alas, they have not. | ||

The temp gauge on the bike said it was 109 today as I was riding around town. Officially, it was probably less, but I'll take 95 any day of the week right now. I forgot what it feels like riding in cooler weather. Wayne |
