This is a public service announcement for those 2008 owners. So that you don't have to dig deep in threads...your solution is most likely a new IAC + ECM.

I'll bump this once a month or so.

I just got my bike back today after being in the shop for a long time. The IAC + ECM were among the many things replaced in attempting to solve the problem. Its hard to say if either was the culprit, although I suspect so. They said there is about 8 pages of notes to type up. So I should have more details on what was done when I get those. But you may be able to add another 08 Uly to the list of Idle, coughing issues potentially solved by a new IAC + ECM.

The problem I was having went along the lines of: On cold starts it would turn over, run for a second, and then die. I would start it again and it would run a little longer, with rpms bouncing wildly all over the place, then gasp for air and die. Repeat about 6 or 7 times with it running longer each time until it would finally hold an idle. When riding, it would occasionally cough out the airbox. Also if it was under a load like accelerating hard up a steep hill, it would lose power and stumble, but only if the throttle was quickly opened. Slowly rolling on the throttle would prevent the stumbling. When plugged in at the dealership, the AFV was reading in the low 80s. It should have been around 105.

Also on a side note... Kevin Garrison from Downtown Harley in Renton, WA is the man! The bike started off in another dealership and after a month and a half of trying to fix it they gave up and sent it to him. He had it fixed in no time and double checked the work the other dealership did. Somewhere along the line while it was in the shop, the bike picked up a nail in the rear tire so he put a new tire on. He even fixed the slow leak at the clutch cable on the primary case. Anyways, just thought I'd throw that out there that Kevin is an awesome buell tech.

I'm having identical problems with my '08 Uly with 21,000 miles except the AFV is 68. It's been at the HD/Buell service dept. for over 3 weeks and they can not find the problem. I called the service rep. and passed on your information. He said he'd order the parts and give it a try.

Thanks for the info. I'll let you know what happens.

The part # for the ECM on my bike is Y0152.1AM. Not sure if that is the newest or not. I'm not sure what the part number is on the IAC.
