I just installed Palmer Products Front Mount Saver. Seems as if the vibration from engine and road are now transmitted much more into the frame and bars. When I was installing the doughnut shaped thing I noticed that the rubber in the facotry mount seems to have deterated. How difficult is it to swap out this piece. Thanks
Paul

Hi, Paul,
the main purpose of the Mount Saver is to stop the deterioration of the rubber mount.
If you've got less than the 8-10mm clearance between the centre bolt and the rubber mount then it's probably badly worn already.

My first mount lasted less than 1000miles but with the Mount Saver, the new one is at 10000 miles with no wear.

Paul- the whole mount has to be replaced (rubber and aluminum casting). It's easy to do, you have to place something under the engine to hold it up (the wood jacking cradle and motorcycle jack work well). Remove the one long bolt that goes up through the rubber portion of the mount and two bolts that attach the mount to the front head. Installation is reverse of removal. Some people have found the long bolt to be corroded pretty badly but that seems to be the only potential complication. The mount costs about $80 IIRC.

How much does the long bolt cost?

Thanks folks: I am going to order the new isolator. Strada I took off the mount saver and it slid out very easily compared to how hard it was to put in, thus probably a sign that the isolator is worn out. Once I get the new isolator in, the mount saver goes back in.
