Yesterday I went over to see what, if anything, I could do to help out a buddy with an '06 Uly. It was having issues with throttle performance, the bike would as he put it, buck, and sputter at times. Once he mentioned he was trying to pass a truck on a two lane road and opened up the throttle to pass, only to have the bike die on him. He was a long way from home and decided to have the bike looked at when he was at a Buell/HD dealership. He said they had it for about four hours and couldn't find a problem. But did acknowledge there was something amiss. He was able to limp his way back home and in fact, at one point he said the bike went back to normal. But it's back to the old state. Actually at this point it's worse.

At this point, the bike won't even kick over. We looked at the bike via ECMSpy and one thing stuck out like a sore thumb. There is 0 volts being registered by the TPS. I compared his readings to mine (I have an '07), and everything other than the TPS voltage looks similar. I did run the error codes, but nothing is being reported as bad. I would think that if the TPS sensor was bad, or if no voltage was getting there I would get some error code. We ran the diagnostics for everything else and they all passed. At this point, we're both puzzled. What's more disturbing is that the bike won't even kick over now.

Anybody have any ideas as to what we might look at or try next?

The Bank Angle Sensor. When mine failed it was complete cut out and it would re-start after cycling the switch, but some have completely failed. That would cause a no start no crank situation. Has it had the recall, move to the back near the seat latch? They moved my second one for the recall and it failed later. The new one they replaced it with has been fine.

Check battery leads for tightness, and grounds, then reset TPS.

Oh Yeah, the BAS doesn't through a code, to the ECM it is a normal event if the bike tips over.
