OK, I had to ride home Friday night in the worst storm with lightning and hail for over 90 miles. That really sucked. I left the drag strip at 10:30 and finally got home at 1:30am. It was mostly interstate riding and in Kansas there is not to many places to get out of the weather. I have never rode in such bad weather and it was dark so seeing the rode was impossible except when the lightning was striking and then I was blinded. Being in Kansas I was expecting to see a tornado in the background when the lightning struck. The bike handled great in the rain. The only issue I started to have was at times the bike acted like it was stuttering and missing at times. I don't know it rain was getting in the air intake or something else. The next day I started my really dirty and muddy bike up and it still runs ruff. Could all the massive amounts of rain and water do anything to the O2 sensor? I took the air filter off and it didn't seem wet. I guess I will make a trip to the HD shop in Topeka or Larwarance, 1.5 hours away. Anyone have any ideas?

First thing to check is the plug wires. They can rub against the engine and wear through, and when wet will ground out providing no spark. Also a loose connection on the plug from the wire can let water in and do the same thing.

My '06 had a intermittent cut out/miss for months when I rode in the rain. I finally found it. The cam sensor wires ran out over the edge of the chin faring where they chaffed a cut through the insulation to the bare wire. Since it is plastic it would not cause a problem until the rain conducted the juice it needed to run on.

Mine did the same thing. Very common problem. I used dielectric grease to seal the plug wires at the coil. Problem went away. Do a search for other ideas.

I had a similar problem. I inspected the whole wire harness and found many chaffed wires throughout and at different location. All repaired. Then I check all the connectors - no defects. (-Off the subject-, I looked closely at the "77" connector - mine is ok). Lastly, I used a liberal amount of dielectric grease on every connector, coil, and the spark plug wires.
The following scenario has been repeated many times since the above work as been completed. With the bike soaked from that days rains, then it was ridden in some good down pours, I've not had any problems. Good luck...
