Mine has started to rumble when stopped with the clutch pulled in while it's in gear.
Anyone else have clutch issues with the 2008 bikes?
I will be dropping off my bike on Monday and will keep the board posted with what was found/done.

I don't think it's the throwout bearing since it only makes the scary noise when it's in gear.

My clutch hub bearing sounded like a cement mixer. When I drained the Transmission oil (Formula +) it looked like coffee milk. I believe that water was getting in the clutch cable and traveling down into the primary where it caused the bearing to rust. (when I took the primary cover off, clear water dribbled out of the cable housing where it entered the primary)
I replaced the clutch cable,as well as the bearing, inner race and both thrust washers, and I'm going to coat the outside of the adjuster with grease and put a small zip-tie around the top of the boot that covers it to prevent it from happening again.

Watch how you wash the bike. Locate the vent tube and make sure you are not letting water enter the transmission through the vent tube.

Dealer replaced the clutch and primary cover on my '08XT, under warranty after I complained of hard shifting, and noisy clutch...

Good thing I have only washed mine probably 4 times since I bought it.
If water is in there, it has to be from rain.
If rain found its way in there, I will take measures to avoid it in the future.

I'm also careful about washing my bike. However, I ride it daily, even when it's raining (like it has been for the past month). When I'm at work, the bike sits outside in the rain. There's been ample opportunity for water to find an entry point.
The watery oil that had been in the primary had only been in there for a couple of weeks.

My 06 needle bearings of my cluctch shell rusted-up and made alot of racket.

Cuz a bunch of Dihydrogen Monoxide got into my primary.

I replaced clutch shell with a used ebay part.

Thankfully, mine is still under warranty but I get the feeling that it will be down for a while as they order parts.
At least I still got my X1!

Just got off of the phone with the dealer.
Confirmed: clutch bearings were rusty+toast.

I asked them to check the breather and stuff.
I honestly drove my X1 in the same manner as this bike.

Weird.
