Thanks.

You can get a whole sheepskin here and it is great for keeping you warm when it gets chilly at night.

I bought a whole sheepskin on ebay for about 60 bucks. I cut it to shape, and with a $10 brass grommet kit from my local hardware store I added tie down points. Works great and is super comfy.

I have the "Large Buttpad Deluxe". Originally bought it for a Goldwing. Fits the Uly well. Just Finished a 2 month trip in Europe using it on a BMW K1100. If you want to see what it looks like on a Uly, I can post some pics.

Thank you. I looked at the website and didn't see the Uly listed until today.

I've never had the heart to cut up the New Zealand sheepskin I bought years ago. I just throw it over the entire length of my seat and hold in down with a bungee. The nice thing about it is that it insulates your leg from any and all engine and pipe heat. Camping it them comes in handy as an extra super comfy blanket or rolled up as a pillow. The fleece is unbelievably soft and not itchy at all.

I like the idea - but am right at the limits of my inseam and can just get both toes down with my thick soled Danners. Does the sheep significantly raise the height ?

OK - don't want to be too anal here butt...is a bit = 1/2" - 1" ?? I'm already on a height challenged slippery slope. This is one place where SIZE does matter. I always get sheep for my car seats - measurably improves comfort. j

I've got a medium Alaskan Butt Pad on my Uly and it's perfect!

Jphish,
Just a bit is probably 3/8" at the most but you'll have to factor in the added width of the seat with the sheepskin on it. The wider the seat the taller a seat will feel.

Electra - I can probably stretch 3/8s. I got my dogs old sheep skin rug I could cut a hunk out of and try it. (I may risk a fanging... even thought she only uses half of it) Good point on the width - I'll probably have to scootch up to the tank to make ground contact. If it helps the heat issue it'll be worth a few millimeters of sacrificed height. Thanks, j

I got a small pelt from a local leather shop and cut it in half. First used it on my Low Rider, then the Road King and now on the Uly. It's great for riding in heat, cold, wet and still looks new.
Not recommended as a pillow after 5k miles.
Use the other half on my desk chair.

This cover gets moved to the Wing and the KLR. Works well in summer and the cold.

Mine is a full hide and I like to throw it over with the legs hanging over the frame/tank. Insulates from all engine heat completely. The fleece is super thick on this New Zealand hide.

Do you take them off when it rains?

No, just ride with it during the rain. If it gets wet you just shake dry it by snapping it like you would a dusty rug. They are great. That hide in the photo is better than 20 years old.

Seeing those pelts after watching a favorite movie of mine (I think I'm wearing out the DVD) here's what comes to mind. Here, I'll share. Come to think of it, I am in the market for a new riding jacket.
