First off I would like to thank all the contributors to this site. It has been nice being able to have a lot of my Buell related questions answered through the great archives here.

I was first introduced to Buell and the blast in early 08 when I decided it was time to own a motorcycle. Being that I had never driven anything with only 2 wheels bigger then a scooter I wanted to get something small yet not totally silly looking for a 6 foot guy to be riding. Researching the various starter bikes I settled on the Blast as something that would be easy to handle and learn on while still being produced right here in the good old U.S. of A.

Not finding anything around Saint Paul, a buddy of mine called me up monday the 5th of May 08 to let me know about a Blast down in Mankato. I took off Wednesday from work and got a ride to check it out with the anticipation of driving it home. It turned out to be exactly what I wanted, Black with low miles and in mint condition. It took me a little while to learn how to shift it properly and not kill the bike. Luckily the guy selling me the bike, Mike (a lifelong Harley enthusiast) was cool and helped me learn on the fly.

The trip home was definitely an experience. I must admit driving on highway 169 home was a bit unnerving whenever a semi passed and seemed to blow me around a bit since I tried to keep her around 55 to 60, anything above that seemed to stress my ears which I wasn't prepared for. Besides that it was a great trip home, and I have loved riding my blast ever sense. Though it soon became apparent I would appreciate a bigger bike.

Which brought me to becoming a member of this site to message "Methed" about a Uly he posted about located up in Baxter MN. Having researched the Uly for the past several months I became convinced it was/is the perfect bike for me. Dan got right back to me last monday the 22nd with the lowdown on the bike and I called up the Buell dealership right after that and bought the bike. The price was right and the new 2 year warranty they gave me on it even though its a 07 was the icing on the cake. Jason a sales manager at Donahue was great to work with and stayed after hours Thursday to be able to let me pick it up.

The bike has been an awesome ride and has given me new found excuses to try new roads and visit friends outside the metro. The only bad thing experienced so far has been a brake light that now is constantly on so unfortunately I am going to have to drop it off at Saint Paul Harley and Buell and be without it while they diagnose and fix the problem. Hopefully it is covered under warranty and it probably is a simple fix.

Thanks again to everyone that has made this site what it is today.

David

Enjoy the new ride. I've had bikes for years but only seemed to use them to commute, but now that I have the Uly I'm actually just going out and playing with it. Very nice fit for me and I hope it is the same for you.

Welcome blaze.
Awsome Uly!
There's lots of us Buell owners here in Minnesota.
About that brake light make sure the rear brake lever is not sticking down.

I'm sure it's just a sticky brake light switch or something--hope it doesn't take too long to fix, looks like a good weekend for a ride.

I still kick myself for not picking that bike up for myself, but it sounds like it went to a good home. Hope you enjoy it, and hit me up when you wanna find some new twisties.

Just called the local dealer to be told it's a defective switch causing the break light to stay on. They put a order in for the part which unfortunately can take 3-5 business days for them to get it. Now I have to decide whether I want to ride my blast up to Duluth tomorrow instead of the Ulysses like I had planned. Some good news is the switch is covered under warranty. Man I was looking forward to riding the Uly all over this weekend...oh well, anyways thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Have a great 4th of July!
