Picked up a 660 for a killer deal and am wondering if anybody has this unit. I have the 550 now which has been excellent. If I keep the 660 my BIL will buy my 550. The reviews are mixed so I am looking to you guys for additional input.....

What are the differences between the two? And what is a killer deal?

I've read some unfavorable reviews also. Seems like Garmin shipped before all the software bugs were worked out. Garmin's track record for fixing this kind of thing is very good though.

The garmin website offers a good "compare" function. Basically it is more along the lines of the Nuvi architecture so less bulky but up to Ipx7 waterproof standard, bigger screen, faster, simpler handlebar mount (no more security screw and a few other cool new features. It is no longer XM radio or Navtraffic ready. I found one for 499.00 can.

The 660 should have a lower number than the 550 in my opinion. Only real advantage over the 550 is the bigger screen and slightly faster processor. They basically took one of the Nuvis, slapped a waterproof shell on it and called it a day.

I have a Zumo 660 that I recently mounted to my '06 Ulysses. I haven't had an opportunity to test it out much yet, but from what I have, it seems like an excellent piece of gear. Will try to get some pictures posted soon.

The display really seems big once you get it mounted, very viewable in all light conditions. The MP3 player is nice as well, I'm using Etymotic ER6i in-ear headphones.

I have an 8GB miniSD card installed, with Europe CN mapset loaded. This is my second Garmin unit to share the same Europe map DVD -- I also have a low-end Nuvi for our car. The complete Europe mapset only takes up ~2GB, so I have plenty of space for tunes. The Lane Assist and Text-to-Speech are very nice extras, as well.

I got my Zumo 660 using the AMA membership discount, $640 delivered. I have it mounted low above the left side switchgear, with the wiring harness routed down into the front cowling. Power comes from Posi-taps on the back of the accessory cigar lighter socket.

I thought the Bluetooth was overkill, but it works very well with my 5-year old Sony-Ericsson T610 cellphone.

Sounds good Bobsims, I was able to wrangle mine for 499.00 cdn.( I know, I know, gee thats about 450 000 US) I have 30 days to return the product and keep my 550. I recall all kinds of nay sayers after the release of the 550, to dumbed down, crashes etc etc. Now it is one of the benchmarks for cycle GPS. I think a few firmware updates (I believe one is already available) and it will be an excellent machine. I much prefer the moto mount and the compact shape of the unit. Time will tell.
