i have an '06 uly with 25k+ and a stock exhaust. a couple weeks ago i noticed it getting a little louder.....similar to what a hole in the exhaust would sound like. no noticeable seat of pants difference in performance and it actually sounds good, but i'm afraid it may get worse. anyone else experience this or have any ideas? it happened just after i changed plugs and went to a k&n filter, but i can't see how this could have caused it. odd coincidence tho.

You sure its louder and not placebo?

Also, check the muffler valve and actuator, its possible the unit failed and the valve is stuck open.

Since you noticed it after your work, could it be intake honking through the K&N, or (gulp...) a loose or stripped plug?

it is definitely an exhaust noise, not intake. i will ck. the exhaust valve actuator. not familiar with how it works, but i have a shop manual so maybe i can figure it out. it will be next week as i will be gone all Sunday. i didn't strip a plug....they are a bitch to change so i am pretty careful. thanks for the tips.
