I just got back from a three-hour cruise and ck'd my voltage it read 12.99v without load and 12.40v under load (both headlights and 55A fog lights on)

Any thoughts? is this about right?

The reason I ask, is when I went to leave for home I was talking with someone and had the ign. on (headlights/fog lights, too) for about 5 to 10 min. and it felt like it ALMOST didn't want to crank over.

Thanks.

That is fine. The book asks for 12.6V to test. These batteries are small and don't usually have a lot of reserve power.

Should be about 14V with the engine running.

""Should be about 14V with the engine running.""

Thanks, Mnrider, Good information.

I'll test it first thing in the AM with the engine running.

I have a problem on my 2007 with the battery not recharging on the alternator.
The battery is on a tender thru the off season. And we could not find anything draining on the battery.
Has anyone had a problem with the alternator going out?

"77" connector, check that first, then the voltage regulator, and then the stator. That's all there is to the charging system.

If you find fault with the regulator don't just replace it, check the stator first. A bad stator will screw up a new regulator and then you get to buy it again. Don't ask me how I know!!
