Just started happening or I just started to notice it. When I am cruising in 3rd at around 3000-3500rpm and get on the throttle without downshifting I here a grinding/rattling sound coming from the front of the bike. It is a strange sound almost like a ball bearing rattling around in a metal can, but like a grinding at the same time (bad description sorry). I can't quite pinpoint the source and I can't get it to happen every time. Anyone have any ideas???

I don't know if the horn is an issue with your bike being a 08'? Mine was fixed when I bought it so I don't know what it sounds like. Is there anybody to give a description of what that sounds like pre-fix? Just a thought to start with.

I was thinking it was something up in the flyscreen area but I can really find anything loose up there.

Could be loose head bearings. Mine made the same noise and became evident when the front rotor began to pulse.

You can also check the back of the flyscreen. If it has a half moon scrape mark in the center, it's your horn.

It might be the horn hitting the flyscreen, you might see some rub marks on the flyscreen from the horn hitting it if that is the cause. Take it for a quick spin without the flyscreen and see if it still happens

Could it be the exhaust servo? I just tested it, it cycled but sounded a little clunky. Is there a specific time or rpm that it does its thing. Thanks, I will ride minus the fly screen and see what happens.

Also take a look at the pin from the fork lock.

Worn out front engine mount will cause a rattle, though mine was usually below 3k and didn't include any grinding noise.
