I was kinda scoping things out today after I changed my rear tire... noticed a little oil "sweat" from the valve cover seal at the back of the rear cylinder. She runs perfect and no oil is burning or dripping. She's at 12Kish.

Should I worry?

Don't worry, be happy. Wipe the sweat off and ride.

a sweating gasket is a leaking gasket as far as i'm concerned. sooner or later it will get worse.

If it starts getting worse, then worry about it.

A leaking rocker cover gasket is never going to strand you, and it's not leaking (yet). Don't worry about it unless it gets worse.

My leaking rear rocker (two separate times) didn't strand me, but it took out the fan both times. The silence when you turn the key off, and the check engine light and blown fuse when you restart it are your clues somethin' ain't right !

I wouldn't let it get much worse than "sweat".

Is it from the rockerbox seal, or from the breather grommet in the middle of the top rockerbox? Mine has a little dribble coming from the grommet...eventually I'll get around to it. Right now all it is, is a little puddle of dust with no wet spot.

Definitely looks like the rockerbox seal. Anyone know if that is hard to replace?

The only difficult part about it is getting access. I have never done it on a Buell, but I have torn apart several HD engines. Not much difference for that part of them, except the Buell is arranged with just a wee bit less clearance around the top of the engine.

I believe the shop doing mine under warranty had to rotate the engine to get access. Careful with the O2 sensor -- the shop "bumped" that during the job, and had to rotate it again to replace it.

I'm finally going to call tomorrow about my rear rockerbox gasket. If I can't get them to help through warranty-- does anyone know what I should expect to pay for the job to replace the gasket?
I'm scarred to ask.
