So I haven't posted in a LONG time. Been busy with life stuff...stupid life stuff..

Anyways, I've had some issues with my front brake since new. Dealer wouldn't help me out and now I'm out of warranty. It pulses, bad. I added a set of Lyndall Golds (not the plus pads) two years ago. They helped a bit, but for some reason now, they are depositing on the rotor, like the stock pads. Cleaning the rotor helps for a few hundred miles. Scuffing the pads (deglazing them) helps for 2 miles. I always set the pads according to the Lyndall instructions, but I never could get the "stoppie" inducing power everyone raves about.

So instead of trying the Lyndall's again, I've decided to go a different route. I have the Galfer Wave rotors on my track bike and LOVE them. So I called Cyclebrakes.com to see what they have in stock. 9 of the Galfers, which are the first in the country. SWEET! Wait, now 8!

The best part... $288.

Now, these are different than the Braking rotors that have been available for quite some time now. Galfer has allowed Braking to use the patent that Galfer has. From what I was told, the rotor material is different, only the shape is what is patented.

Also, I have been hoping for a nice street/track type pad for the 6 piston caliper... But, all I could find were the Lyndall's, Buell Race pads, EBC HH's, and some other street pads. So I figured I'd try the EBC's. I didn't like them in the past, but figured what the hay. If I can find a set of Carbon Lorraine SBK-5's, I'll get those, but I haven't been able to locate a set. I have used them on my track bike in the past and LOVED them as well. Now I'm using a set of Galfer G1003 (strictly track pads) and those are amazing on the track bike, but need a LOT of heat to work.

So, no pics yet, but the rotor should be here next week. I'll have it on and pics posted next week.

By the way... I'm currently running the Nissan radial master (from American Sport Bike) and Motul RBF600 brake fluid. The stopping power and modulation is MUCH improved now over stock with the addition of the radial and the different fluid. I'm REALLY excited to get the new rotor and pads to try it out.

Just thought I'd post here in case someone was looking for a new rotor, but wasn't interested in a stocker.

I've read some posts about the Braking wave rotor over heating and such, but I've also heard that about the Braking wave's in general on other bikes as well. I've abused my Galfer wave's and they keep asking for more.

I never heard of that other wave rotor, I will have to look into it. I got ZTL2, Lyndal Gold pads, Nissin master cyliner, and the Braking Wave rotor. I love it, but its real dangerous, like doing stoppies at 60mph dangerous : )

Rode the CR today to get my free swag and after I was done I determined 2 things.

1) The CR is great but hate the bars would need the accesory bars.

2) Until I can afford said CR I think I am going to put that ZTL2 on. Wonder what Froggy thinks of his.

Got home and saw this. I take it you like it Froggy?

I can't stand the upright bars on the CR. It feels so awkward and out of place. The clubmans look aggressive, but is actually almost identical to the setup on the 1125R.

I might be putting clubmans on my bike next, I just need to figure out a new way to mount all the goodies without the crossbar.

I love the ZTL2 setup. Problem I have is that I went all out and the only part of the setup thats "stock" is the caliper and brake line. I need to put some miles on other bikes to determine whether the master cylinder, pads, and rotor make a difference. Either way, this thing grabs very nice, but seems to need a little heat before it starts to work excellent. For example, I have difficulty doing stoppies coming to a light on a highway off ramp, as I haven't used the brakes in 50KM. The brakes are bone cold, and for the first few seconds feel a little wooden. I usually can lift up the rear nice by the second light. : )

I also have the wave rotor and lyndal pads on the rear, and actually use that to do a good chunk of my braking. The rear works just as good as the front, if not better, and is very easy to lock up.

I didn't like the clubmans. I guess that is why they make more than one design. Unfortunately they didn't have one with the acc. bars on it, although they said they will soon.

I may have to try those pads in the rear because like some others mine lacks braking power. Almost have to stand on the lever to get it to lock. I am not after just lock up but stronger braking power all around. The bike was cold and it was cold out, 39*F, and it still fealt like I was pulling the rear up without even trying and overall just much firmer braking.

Thank you for the input.

Hey Froggy-

How was it getting the rotor bolts loose? Any tips? I heard you need some heat to break the (purple?) loc-tite loose.

I do like the ZTL2 caliper, but I'm planning on waiting to spring for that until I try the Galfer rotor and EBC pads. The ZTL2 is my last resort. And only that, as I would have to change lines and master cylinder (which is already upgraded.)

The wave rotors went on brand new rims with brand new tires.

I recently sold the old rims, the rotors/sproket came off no problem with the air wrench.
