I have an 06 Uly that has started making a strange noise when I turn the ignition on. I am aware that the fuel pump comes on to pressurize the system, but what else cycles? The sound that it makes is hard to describe. My best description would be like that of a muted aaa-ogha horn. Does the interactive exhaust servo cycle? The sound emanates from the top of the bike, has anyone else had this happen? I'm thinking that I have something that is starting to fail. Any help will be appreciated. A big thank you for all of the past information that this site has provided me. You are all very generous. Don |

I think the exhaust servo does a sweep like the gauges. It would be easy enough to pop the airbox cover and look at the servo. (I'm much too lazy) |

I just replaced my exhaust valve actuator and it cycles each time the ignition+run switch is turned on, whether the throttle is twisted or not. Problems were intermittent at first, but it didn't take long to ultimately fail. Mine's an '06. |

Actuator cycle at key on is switched off by default. Reason is that starting quickly after key-on will leave the valve open, which then eventually leads to an AMV DTC. The actuator will test cycle if throttle is hold at WOT position before switching on the ignition. |
