Give me the date for next time, and don't put it right before a big trip. As for the burnout, I need to figure that one out. I am sure I can make it down the whole strip without the front wheel landing though ______________________ Pwning noobs on a Buell since 2007

There were only two of us that ran. Myself on an 05 12R, and a guy I met that night. I think his name was Mark, he was on a bad ass 95 S2 that was worked and painted orange on one side black on the other seperated by a white stripe. Way cool. The place is awesome and I plan on going back for sure. My best was a 13.3? at like 104MPH's. I won't post his times as he might not want them to be public knowledge. I will say that he beat me every run though. (Message edited by skinstains on May 03, 2009) |

Kudos to you! I can't imagine drag racing a Uly. I mean, how could you EVER launch the thing!? My 2nd son Keith (naturally talented at every physical endeavor) ran 11.42 on a stock R6 at 6,000 ft elevation. Even HE wouldn't run the Uly! --Doc |

I didn't run the Uly. Pay attention boys... For no other reason than I just felt like riding the Bolt that night though. Next time I will ride the Uly and see what I can get out of it. Maybe 5/15 ??? |

Did you need to put a tether on the engine cut off switch? If so, could you post a pic of how you did it? I am thinking about going to National Trails and they require the bike to shut off if you come off.... |

Yes, the "dead man" switch is a must have. Even if it is not specified in the tracks rules they usually defer to the NHRA ar some other entity that promotes and organizes the racing. What I have done to make my bikes legal is to drill a small 1/16" or so hole in the red on/off switch on the right handlebar. I then get a small screw and one of those thingies that you use to hold your sinker on to your fishing hook/line and screw it in the hole. Now I have an anchor for any type of tether I want to use. I just use some kevlar shoe string tied to the zipper pull on my right sleeve that I hook up to the fishing thingy. The modification is very un obtrusive and stays on my bikes permanently. Be sure to drill the hole in the right side of the switch. The engine run side as this will pull the switch to th off position in the event that you go flying off of your bike. I will take a picture or two and have my kid post them up for me. |

There are companies that sell different models from thrifty to blingin' if you want to go that route as well. |

Sweet I will have to look into the blinging switch, perhaps they make one that automatically lowers a set of training wheels and applies the brakes to safely bring the bike to a stop. |

I was thinking about strapping the front down and taking all the pre-load out of the rear shock, but leaving it set up for road racing would make for good hole shot practice. |

These bikes are probably the worst for dragracing as they are short wheelbase torque monsters. I consider the straps for the front abusive and would never use them. IMO the bike's set up need not be changed. You will never get great times out of it so why bother ? It's just a cheap way to have a fun night out with your bike. If you really want to run the 1320 get a V-Max or a 'Busa. I don't even abuse my clutch coming out of the hole as knocking a tenth or two off of my time just isn't that important to me. Froggy, I'm possibly going to Island Friday the 15th. I will post up as soon as I know for sure. |
