I'm guessing you've never dealt with Cyclerama.
Call Pammy and express your concerns. Talking to her is a delight, and the experience and care she has is very evident. |

Well...OK. But you're gonna miss out on my wonderful instructions (that I don't need to write up now).
Hope things work out and I'm still willing to offer advice. I'm prejudiced towards the DIY TIME-SERT approach, since then you KNOW what's been done.
However, sounds like it's a reputable shop; can't say I'd do different were I in your situation.

I'd sure hate to have to go the Dr Greg route but when I was done I'd surely feel a sense of accomplishment and knowledge. And fatigue. 
I have a problem trusting mechanics with my vehicles. Right or wrong I've always felt like I'm getting bent over when they tell me what the cost is. I always try to do my own work when possible. The worst of it is when things aren't any better or you find loose this or that and they've already got your money. |

I'm not 100% set on having the shop do it. If it's going to be a day or two's work to fix it myself, then I might just do it myself. But if it's going to be a few weeks worth of being Buell-less, then I might just have someone else do it for me. And if the shop seems to have a good reputation (which this one does) then that makes me feel better about it. So there's an equation here I have to figure out. Doc - you have an email.
The satisfaction I'd get from doing it myself is a factor as well. My second car was a '69 Mustang and I did all the work on it myself with a bunch of grease monkeys that lived in the barracks with me teaching me how to fix things. I loved that car until some &^%$ stole it. And I knew the engine inside and out, (literally). I wouldn't mind doing the same thing with the Uly, but I also have a wife, house, etc. nowadays, and don't have as much time to devote to my toys... |

Just so you know; Cyclerama builds Land Speed Record holding engines. If Wes or Pammy says they can do something; not only can they do it, they'll do it right. I have never heard anybody say anything bad about the quality of their work or their abilities. I would trust them to work on my bike without any reservations whatsoever. |

As far as the "Grease Monkey, BS". I believe the quote was that it may be able to be done on the bike. That, to me, would mean without removing the head. Obviously it couldn't be done without moving the engine. It is a bit tight. I think though, it would be better for the head to be removed.
We have an excellent Buell tech and a Supreme head master .
I, too, have trouble trusting some repair facilities. However, I must say that I have the utmost faith and confidence in Cycle Rama.
Sean, we will do as much or as little as you wish. This is still America. You are in control and we are at your disposal.
