I saw the offroad version yesterday at a local dirtbike park. That thing was friggin fast.
Kid ridding it and his dad were happy to talk about the bike.
150 lb and 50 lbft.
The kid was about 125lb and was getter just over 2hr's per charge.
They recharged it while I was talking with them on a little honda generator.

Please Erik, Make the 450 into an electric bike.

A battery is supposed to last 4 to 6 years according to them. To replace that particular battery in that bike Desmo900 is referring to cost $3000. That seems a bit much to me. If it lasted 4 years then it cost $750/year just in battery costs and then you have to add the electricity cost which probably isn't much. That $750 would buy 375 gallons of gas which would take you 15,000 miles on a 40mpg motorcycle. Now, if it lasted 6 years it would be $500/year in battery costs which equates to 250 gallons of gas and 10,000 miles on a 40mpg bike.
I'd be more inclined to buy an electric bike if the battery lasted 10 years or if that battery would last 200 miles per charge. I see great things for electric bikes over the next decade.

Dirty knobbie tires, and 4500 extra dollars left over for gas, oil, travel, bags, more gas, some breaks, and for sure some more sets of tires.

Upon further review of all the video on the Zero dirt bike... I would so terrorize a skate park with that thing.

I've been waiting for an electric bike that I can commute on (90 miles a day) but I would miss the growl of the Buell. I keep hoping Suzuki will put the 450 motor with fuel injection in the DRZ but I have my doubts they will ever do it.

Maybe what this electric bike really needs to get me interested, it is a switch to have the motorcycle make revving noises!

I forgot to mention that I put my name down on that website and I kid you not, within 5 minutes I got a call from Zero Motorcycles. The guy was calling from California where they make the bikes and must have been traveling in his car because he kept cutting out a bit while talking. Go to that website and put yourself down for a demo and see how fast they call you.

theres a Scooter store in Seattle that sells/rents them, so the demo will actually be for a full weekend, and a deserving trip to the car wash after I am done with it....
They cant keep the MadAss in stock, the Xroad is a bit more of an oddity.

I just wish they didn't move the production to China, the quality of them went down the tubes and everything looks like it was put together by a 5 year old. Possibly because it was.

@ US$23,233, I can buy quite a bit of petrol, and at any station. That said, I am still waiting for HDT to produce their civilian model. They have been promising for years.

Don't know why diesel powered vehicles are so dang expensive. I have a diesel Jeep Liberty and L-O-V-E it.

Diesel engines would make a GREAT motorcycle power plant. Big torque, great fuel economy.
