I rode about 40 miles on gravel and some mud sunday and I like the 616's for an all around tire.The only way I would switch to a different tire is if they stopped making the 616,I like the looks of the tread pattern also.
80 mph or 40 on gravel.
How about 90 on gravel,the Uly is very sure footed on gravel,twist it half way through the corner and keep the slide going back and forth.

I like rarking it up too and agree that the Uly is surprisingly capable - but compared to a bike with a 21" front wheel and square profile tyres - it's a great road bike.

My Dunlop D616 front tire did some funny things when riding but I don't think it's the tire's fault. It seems to float in first gear at higher rpm's and in second gear but I think the tire would actually have to be on the ground before I could actually fault it! It sure causes a big grin on the rider's face when it happens! lol

I think any tire on a bike like this used for multi-purpose is going to be a compromise,if I stayed on the tar more I would use sync's or 220's.I used to run those cheap Kenda DOT knobbies on my KLR 250 and 650 but they where very slippery on the wet tar.I think my XT600 came with trail wings or something like that but I only ran that bike about 5k and traded it,not enough wind protection.

I use to shift gears pulling one on
my old XL-500, or do a 50 mph wheelie
standing up!
But alas, I'm getting to old.
