My '07 uly's trip meters and clock reset while rolling just rolling it around. It doesn't happen if the bike is running, only when it is off. Also, the blinkers on the right side sometimes work normal and other times work rapidly or not at all. The blinker problem is no big deal but the trip meters and clock issue suck because this is my fuel meter and trip mileage odometers. Riding season is comming up here in Colorado and although I'm still under warranty the nearest dealer is 150 miles away and they had it for a week this winter and the problem still exists. Any ideas would be great. By the way I only check in about once or twice a week so please bear with me on replies. thanks for your input.

Also, check your battery terminal connections.

I replaced my battery 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, when I went to start it, the starter made an awful noise for a split second, then it started. My clock was reset, and my tripmeters zeroed out. I popped the seat -- positive terminal was just loose enough to move the cable by hand. Tightened everything down, back to normal.

Hope it's something simple for you, too.

Usually turn signals work fast due to excess load, But I'm with wheelybueller, I would check all your grounds.Good luck, sometimes it's hard to chase down erratic electrons! If you know either an electrician, or mechanic that has a "fluke" model 83-85 or an 87 meter, (these have a record feature, with a 20 milisecond response time), and this will help catch those loose electrons.

the dealer did find some broken ground wires at the front of the bike and fixed these and that did fix the other problem of the headlights not working. The grounds on the tail section look good and the fasteners are tight. I had the battery on a trickle all winter so I know these connections are tight as I put it back in. Do I maybe need to scratch off some of the powdercoat on the frame to get a better ground? Thanks for your input.

Josh, I have had both of those symptoms on my '06 and they were both broken splices in the loom at the headstock. This the location of the broken back-up power splice for the instrument cluster (my temporary repair visible).

The brown wires on the right are the splice for the R/H blinker circuit that failed at a later date.

Your model should have the improved cable guide so the issue may not be these splices. The splices should be reasonably easy to check by sweeping the handlebars or manually flexing the loom in the right spot. At least you might be able to point your dealer in the right direction.

In my case I was not able to get the first repair done under warranty (if you think you have warranty issues in the US you should see the problems you can have when you are in a country where there is no Buell Customer Service line).
Definite warranty issue if you do have a break here - there is no way that a splice should be positioned in a flexible section of the loom.

You mentioned the ground connections in relation to the headlight. This is the group of ground points:

I have had all four break over time on my '06. They are grounds for:

- both headlight bulbs and the parking bulb if fitted.
- the horn.
- the blinker relay.
- the front aux power outlet.

The failure mode can be tricky with these - I had a couple of them break the internal conductor be leave the insulation intact. That created an intermittent connection that was interesting to find. Give each wire a gentle tug and the 'insulation-only' wire will be immediately obvious.
This arrangement is very poor in my humble opinion and I have an earth braid ready to fit here and will re-locate these wires up into the flyscreen so they aren't flexing all the time.

I hasten to add that my '06 is getting up there in miles ( just passed 46,000 miles) and a lot of that has been commuting so the number of times the handlebars have been moved into lock must be a big number.

If you need any more info please feel free to PM me.
