.....cuz chicago harley says the 07 is 39.20 and the 09 is 13.36. Anyone know why? Which is longer? I just bought an 09 cable but need a little more length.... of course the dealer doesn't know. there are actually the "idle cable" or "throttle closed" cables. Here's the part number: 09: N0308.3AK 07: N0308.1AK |

Supposedly the 09's (and maybe the 08's) have a slightly different throttle cam- not sure if that's on the throttle body end or the throttle grip end. The different cam is supposed to give better low speed throttle control. That might explain the different part numbers- but not the price difference! |

Well thats what happens when you deal with a horrible dealer like Chicago. Anyway, you got your numbers wrong, .3AK is 08, .1AK means 06. 08 is when they changed the engine a bit, including a different throttle body, so it has different throttle cables. No clue which one is longer, but being that your profile says you got a 08 STT, your best bet is the .3AK

i have the .3ak, which is the part number my local dealer gave me for the 09.... guess its the same as 08 anyways....... come on froggy! you can do better than that! someone said they were told the 07 cables were longer, just trying to confirm. Don't see why they'd be so much more expensive. |

Yea it must of been a carry over from the year before. If you type in .4AK you see all the new to 09 stuff, which happens to be a few footpegs, some body plastics, a handlebar, and a kickstand. I have no way of knowing which cable is longer without getting both and measuring them. The 06-07 and the 08-09 have significant differences so it wouldn't surprise me if one was longer, or if they even had different connectors. As for cost, I can't explain that. Sometimes they change vendors, or something with the cable is different that it is much cheaper. Perhaps they secretly got the 06 cables of a GS1200 Adventure. No clue. What are you trying to achieve? If you need longer than Uly cables for a STT with STT bars, what do you need so much extra slack for? I don't think ape hangers would look great on the STT anyway. |

ape hangers!? very funny. i'm just rerouting them so they don't pull tight and position themselves to get pinched when you turn lock to lock. As they are now, they do just that. only the idle cable is the problem...... just another inch! or even half an inch! (get your mind out of the gutter) |

The 08 Ulys have a different throttle cam, I think on the grip side, but I'm not sure. I don't know which one is longer. |
