Been there, thermistor/low fuel sensor (Part# P0789.K in my 2006 Parts Catalog) probably going bad or bad connection.

Since my Uly is a 10/05 build the entire pump was replaced under warranty last May, that was fine with me it was on their dime. Replaced with the updated pump. Sounds completely different.

Out of warranty I would replace the sensor myself.

Thanks X. I have a extended warranty.
Not sure if would be covered but it would be nice. Fuel pump hangs every once ina while when its cold. Like it sticks while waiting to turn it over.

I would get it replaced before it decides to hang on you on the side of Mt. Everest.

On start up, it hangs when it cycles after you turn on the switch. Thats what I ment.
Havent had it just out right quit while riding.

Pull the fuel pump and check the wiring! My 06 started the intermittent low fuel light routine, then became steady on for about 20k miles before the power wire to the pump finally chafed to the bracket inside the frame. When I removed the pump I could see where the low fuel light wire had been chafing longer than the pump wire. I sleeved the chafed wires and rerouted them to prevent further chafing.

Given the fuel pump issues some other 06 owners have had, I seriously would get that fixed and get the revised pump put in.

I didn't know about an updated fuel pump, is that for the wire re-routing or different pump and all? And Froggy, since I know you got it.....what is the part number and price?ah thank you)

My low fuel light did the come on real early thing on my Daytona trip. It has been fine since. Sounds like the short problem coming up.

The updated Fuel pump does have a bunch more sheathing on the wire to prevent chafing. Mine was replaced last month with the latest pump. It's also MUCH quieter than my original.

Possibly - P0130.5A8 FUEL PUMP ASSY Retail Price:$359.25

More likely - P0130.5AA FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY Retail Price:$359.25

Not sure the difference between the two, but both are XBs. AA means XB12R, A8 means XB9R. The 12R one is a 2008 part number and the 9R one is 2007 part number. I don't have any part books newer than 06 to confirm that these are correct for our bikes, but I believe they are.

Thank you Frog-man! That little sumbich is costly, eh? Mine still works, but I have seen the light(at the wrong time). So I may just take it out to inspect and repair the wiring.

At $400 it sounds like I will check the wires as well. My pump is pretty noisy since new.
I went for a 60 miler yesterday and it never came on.
