OK a small confession. I'm a bit of a mechanical hypochondriac and worry about little noises and such when I don't need to. Just looking for some advice. Had a weird thing happen the other day. Took a short trip to the store and parked the bike in gear because I was on a slight hill. When I was leaving I started the bike to let it warm up but could not get the dumb thing in neutral. Did'nt think to much of it but a few miles down the road I stopped for a light and the down shift to first did'nt feel right. no click. tried a few times and it did'nt move. No neutral light. When I went to go the bike was not in gear and would not go into first. Had to go up to second. went into first after that and seems to be ok. Something I should look into or just a fluke ? | ||

intermittent connection where the neutral sensor goes into the trans. Take off the front sprocket cover and wiggle the connector. I'll bet the light flickers on and off. | ||

Sometimes when the bike is cold neutral cannot be had with the engine running. Shut it off and it will go in. Sounds like the gears may have just lined up in a way that didn't allow it to move. Has it done it again? If not I would think it was a fluke alignment of the gears. I have seen that happen with my '06 a couple of times. | ||

Loose or over-tight primary chain might cause this. |
