Alrighty...it's time. Since about Aug of 08' the factory installed Uly's wheel bearings were changed from the Red seal NTNs to Black seal KBCs. Any of you fortunate few, who have the NEW bearings, experienced any problems ?? Presumably KBC (recently bought out) is NOT using electric motor grease as their lube of choice. Just thought I'd get this started to see if the hypothesis has any traction. j

I installed the new new ones on the rear, only have about 3000 mi on them. Probably to soon to tell, but so far so good.... (the originals were toast at 36,000 for reference)

Thanks Gentlemen ! - I think beta testing is the only way we're going to know for sure. Gamdh - you need to get at least another 10K by the end of the month and report back...better get goin. I'll call your boss and tell him/her you've been put on temporary assignment by a US govt agency (that begins with a 'C') in the interest of national security. Chris - anyway you can double that 5K ? This is important research Guys, and requires ordinal data - think of what your doing for science and the unending fields of Uly inquiry. I'd do it... but it's raining here, and I only have red bearings. j

the home boss often is harder to convince that more riding is good for everyone....

work boss... heck they usually have no idea.... "you been gone, haven't seen you lately??? " "Nope just keeping my nose to the stone boss.... " "well keep up the good work!!"

but i do agree with phish.... inquiring minds want to know... (i'm red too)

Good news, just found out my rears (orange) are shot on my Blue XB (not Uly) rims. 10k miles. Blacks going in! : )

Note: My bike aint a Uly, and I killed the bearings in about half the time I did of my Uly! I didn't even off road the damn thing since putting the purdy blue rims on.

Chris - This is why we need to resurect BEER. A Gasket kit could be one of the parts bin items. Trying to get that going again - just for such situations. Buell parts network is damn near useless - Havent had anything that doesnt take at least 2 weeks - even for what should be shelf items. I would have had to wait 10 days even for a friggin air filter. Consider yourself lucky if you only have a 5 day delay. Dissappointing to say the least!! Did you try overnite fedex through Appleton HD/Buell or American Sport Bike ? Good luck Pal - j
